Sara saying 'Hello' 30/4/10

Hello Peeps,

Apologies Aunty, I have been swinging by to see if anyone has posted anything but indeed it has been very quiet. Lovely post from Lisa, she and Ronnie are always doing interesting things. It was lovely to see them up at Mums too, they both look great and of COURSE Ronnie IS family.

Meg took Mum back to the doc's yesterday for her ?? final appointment. I was supposed to call Mum last night but after the big day out I was so tired I didn't get to call her. I will try tonight.

Aunt Mo', I don't know how yourself and Uncle Bill do it, always so busy. Don't you ever just want to slow down? Heck, I'd love to slow down every day but alas there is no chance of that happening antime over the next 15 years or so... I haven't done any home reading with the kids at school this year, last year I fell asleep a few times as the children were reading to me (some of them read in such quiet mono-tones).

Poor Aunty Kell, it must be very difficult knowing the hospital care is not as good as it could be but she certainly does need the break and rest herself. I really feel for her. Aunty does it look like the care facility will be ready anytime soon?

I have to do grocery shopping today or very soon. I don't know why I bother, I should just buy bread as it seems sometimes that it's all my kids will eat, aside from pasta and chips (IF I let them have the latter). I need fruit and veg' and meat, there's a wholesale butcher directly across Canterbury Road so I think I will go there to get our meat. The kids do eat sausages and schnitzles so I can buy them. I used to enjoy doing the shopping but I hate it now, having to dodge around all the Arabs, Asians and Indian. They're all over the place like wild pigs and don't give-way!

We went to Olympic Park yesterday as Hokeys school were having their cross country run. It was a lovely day for it and everyone had a lovely time. Not a lot of parents attended but there were still plenty to make it a 'pic-nic' style day. We took a basket with leftover pizza and rice rissolls, a thermos and fruit. I was slack and didn't get any pics. I was very dissapointed as one of the Mums was talking to me and I missed Hokey coming up the path to the finish line but I saw him as he reached me then cheared him to the end.

Two weeks ago Tony gave his brother an ultimatum, he gets a job by the end of the month and starts contributing to the expenses (the last 3 electricity bills have been $900, that's a $600 increase since he's been in his flat. Plus land and water rates) or Tony will disconnect his power and disconnect the water from his shower and toilet. Well, it's the last day of the month and he's still in bed so it looks like it's going to be "lights out" tomorrow. We simply cannot afford to keep him any longer, we're flat-out getting by ourselves.

I've been trying to upload a picture but for some reason the link is not working today, I'll try another day.

We've had the heater (gas) going the past few nights, it's getting chilly but since we had the insulation put in the heaters keep the house nice and toasty. Except out in this little room, I had to put on a big quilted jacket to get warm. Freezing in winter and boiling in summer. There's no insulation out here as this room is just an 'add on' I think and is just a fibro ceiling and walls.

My little bird is in here with me. I used to let her go in the aviary with the other birds but she gets too feral, even after a couple of hours. Some days I'll lock the cats in a room and let the bird fly about the house. She most always follows me and lands on my head. If not me then she'll go to Angelina.

It's already half twelve, 2 hours and I'll have to go to school to get Hokey. He's busting his belly to play his playstation (I'll only allow it on weekends and holidays) but he has been told that he is not allowed to play it until he is able to properly tie his shoe laces by himself. He can do it but gets so impatient that if he makes a mistake he'll go off his head and won't bother trying again.

Tony says he wants to move me (this 'office' room) into the empty (barr all the 'stuff') room in the next week or so, so that he can start extending this room across the drive and incorporate it into a workshop so he can work on the cars. Just being out all day at yesterdays cross country knocked him for six so I won't hold my breath to be moving anytime soon. He is in the lounge cementing the fireplace walls and is going to fix the hole in the chimney (so as to avoid another house fire :o/) so we will be enjoying the ambience of firelight again this winter. Just have to get hold of some decent wood now ...

I'm transferring CD's to my ipod whilest I'm on the 'puter. I've done about 80 so far and still have another 230 or so to go. Very time consuming. I also have all the paraphenalia to convert my cassette tapes to compatible files and have about 40 of those to do yet, urgh!

Well as you can see, I have no news and have rambled alot about nothing so I will sign off and hope someone else logs on soon. Take care all,

Love Sara XXXXX

Still alive in Pilot Mound

Morning all. I am just playing hookey from work! Can't stay long, don't have any news to relate, but thought I'd take a few min.s and say 'Hello!'
Where is everyone? Bill is over at our Dr's house, measuring up and putting in foundation for a deck. We have a funeral to go to at 2pm, friend coming for supper....and to hook up a router for me so I can go wireless with computer and I hope lap top. Bill then leaves at 6-30 for a meeting in Morden....45 miles.... and I go visit a friend in hospital. Day pretty well taken care of ! I just made a yummy blueberry dessert for supper, have to add whipped cream.
I haven't talked to Kell in a couple of days, but will call again today. Am a bit worried about her health and have to keep on top of that. She had a few really bad days with Peter and finally had to phone for help. He is now in hospital and we hope will stay there till his room is ready in the Care Home. She isn't happy with the hospital care, but has to put up with it, she just can't manage at home. I don't know when we will get over, but sometime in summer, we are both busy with community things and church.
We had an auction sale.....all donated stuff.....for the Complex last Saturday. Live auction, Rainbow auction and Silent auction along with a pie baking contest followed by auction of the pies. Made over $5,000-00 on the pies!!! I don't know the final count, but the live auction made about $45,000-00. We SHOULD clear $60,000-00. We also had the Grand Opening of the Complex and Bill and I got to do the prayer of blessing....got good reports, so guess we did a good job!! We are experiencing a very eary spring and need rain. A lot of the seeding has been done. Alberta in the middle of a snow storm....guess who will NOT be pleased !!!
I had best finish this off, I need to do some grocery shopping before lunch and Bill will be home soon enough ! Hope all are well, take care and God Bless. Mona I am not spell checking...the last time I did I lost everything, so any mistakes, don't tell me about them! M

Grafton Finally Blogging, 13th April 2010

Dear Family,
It has been a long time between blogs, but I have been thinking of you all. Have been very busy of late, but it is all fun.
Ronny, Zappa and I have just been on a short tour about the place and the highlight was seeing Aunty Tom. She is still very thin, but she always has been. I thought she looked good and it was fantastic to see her again. It was a real bonus to see Sara, her children, Meg and Marcus too. Meg is really amazing; she does not stop giving. I thought Sara was looking fantastic too. Marcus, wow, what a stunner! He was painting the ceiling in Aunty Tom’s spare room. Then he played with Hokey on the trampoline, what a gymnast! Greg’s dog Dickie Knee was there and Zappa had a great play too. It was such a lovely visit. When we got back in the car, Ronny said “they are so nice. They really make me feel part of the family.”
Just before Easter Ronny and I went exploring and found a new camp spot by Washpool Creek, hence the photo (last blog a few minutes ago). It is our screen saver now as the spot was so awesome. For Easter we went to the Blues Festival at Byron Bay and it was fantastic. The music was all brilliant, weather great and a good time was had by all. Greg Myers originally intended to go too, and we were excited about catching up with him, however he did not make it. Never mind, there is always next year. The rest of the family – all of Jane’s lot, Mum and Dad, Stewart and his 3 godchildren (3 boys, 3,5,8 years) spent Easter at Jane’s and by all accounts there, they had a great time. Dad tripped on a step and had 6 stitches in his forehead, now has gruesome black eyes, but he said he feels great. He has not gone out in public though as mum says he is embarrassed. No one would take a photo for me to see, so this is all second hand. (Aunts – please do not ring him – I will get in trouble for telling you, but he is fine, honestly). Just got official word that the bruising is fading fast. Dad said he is” back to his usual handsome self! “ They will be down in Grafton next weekend for the Rotary Conference . His injury does not sound half as bad as Uncle Peter’s! Hope he is on the mend.
This past week I have been busy at home building props (sort of) for a play my year 12 have to perform extracts from for their HSC. I have been sewing, sawing, screwing, glueing and painting. I had to build “body parts’ as they have to cut up bodies on stage. Very bloody, but a funny black comedy. Professional productions use prosthetic limbs, but I have a zero budget so I think I have done well, even if I say so myself!
The last 4 days of our holidays we are going camping , either by Washpool Creek or the Clarence River. It will depend if other people are there. Both are close so it will not bother us. It will be neat to have a few days totally relaxing before facing next term; always a big one as I do a production at the end of the term. I am also teaching in an After School Program at a local primary school every Wednesday afternoon this term. It will be quite a change from my seniors (16 to 18 year olds) as I will be teaching Drama to year 3 and year 4 students (9 and 10 year olds). I look forward to the challenge. I will not get paid, but I do receive a few voucher days.

Zappa was two years old a few weeks ago, my how the time has flown! He is very mature now and quite well behaved. He does not need the lead on all the time now, which is great as when we go running I do not get tangled in the lead! He is still so cute! (This information was for Aunty Mona – all you non- dog lovers, well -tough!)

Aunty Kell, it can not be long soon, we are all thinking of you.
Well, sorry again that it has taken me so long to write. Will try to be more diligent.
All my love,
Lisa

Greeting from Grafton!

Washpool Creek. Just up from where we camp. A great screen saver for computer!
Having trouble here. Will post this then paste the letter I have written,
Lisa

Hello Peeps

Hello again Fam',

Aunt Mo', by all means use the purse, you will fit right in with the young'ns.

Mum's GrEaT, Meg has her in tip top form. She still needs to gain weight but is running about like she always used to so hard to put it on when you're burning it faster than gaining it... She says she still has a strange feeling in her stomach, a tight, full'ish sort of feeling and she gets to looking a bit tired some days but hey, I reckon she can get away with that at her age...

I'm still up here with Mum but probably going home tomorrow or the next day. I should take the kids out somewhere while we're here but I'm without a car and don't like asking Mum if I can use hers. At home I'll take them bush walking again and try out a few different playgrounds too.

Drove Mum across to Maitland today so she could check-out some beds at Harvey Norman. She found one she liked and the girl has put an order in and will notify Mum when it arrives. She prefers the one she's in but the bedroom is very small and the queen bed takes up most of it so she's ordered a double instead. It's a lovely comfortable bed too, very nice...

Kids are well as can be expected, they're watching cartoons at the moment. It was a fair trip to Maitland and shopping in furniture stores is not 'childs play' (for want of a better idea) so we pulled into Hungry Jacks on the way home and let them play on the playground for an hour whilest they ate their burgers and chippies and have their drinks before we came on home. I think I will run a bath soon and get them through so we can have another early night.

I have no news so will sign off for now and hope all are well. Hang in there Aunty Kell and Wendy, great news about Lenice. Lyn, what a beautiful bride Hannah was, lovely.

OH My!! Scotch Lassie!!

Wendy, thank you so much! It was great to see her again! You know she is the same age as me? Is she getting the pension???? Now, who has the old blue covered book? It was covered with what we then called ceserine I believe! Also Wendy, did Carol get the CD I sent last year? Likely Oct. or early Nov......it was a recording of 'In Falnders Fields'. If she didn't get it, I can burn another and get it to her (I think!!) for Anzac Day.
Not much to tell here. Bill and I ran away from home for 3 days, just drove about, looked for birds, that sort of thing, but NO PHONE!!! It was great and I didn't want to come home. Have to cook a big turkey for Sat.....bonspeil.....and make 2 lemon pies, have a school to go to Sat. am. so had to come out and bring my finger! Bought a new phone while we were away, looked at it this am and phoned the company to say I was returning it. Told them I might not live long enough to read the instructions! All we want is to be able to phone out and receive calls in!
Does anyone have info on John? The phone has been disconnected. Has he sold the house, where are they going to live? Is he still working? Best go. Love to all. Mona
Oh, Sarie. You mean I can use my little gold purse and be in fashion????? Who knew!
And let us know how Tom is doing, please. Tks. M

Scotch Lassie

Here she is - Scotch Lassie.
She now resides in a cupboard at my house and has done so for the last few years. She is quite happy where she is, wrapped snuggly in a pillow slip!
Details are:
Gift to June from Uncle Walter Payton in 1936. She is still wearing her original pants, dress and hat.

Glomesh .

Aunt' Mo', 'Glomesh' came back in a couple of years ago and is still 'in'. Meg picked up a gorgeouse little gold coin purse for a dollar from Vinnies I think she said. I bought mine on ebay for $12- I have often wondered about Mums handbag but think it might've gone years ago...
The church looks lovely too.

No news, didn't go anywhere today but going to Mums tomorrow. Oh, Johnno phoned this morning, they are busy getting organised to move to Dubbo. Johnno is still out on the property and was a little concerned about going out on the motorbike to wherever it was he had to go as they'd had quite a bit of rain last night and recently. I just heard on the news that Bourke had 20+mm last night.

That's it for now. Probably won't be on here 'til I get back from Mums, unless I pack-up the laptop and take it with us. I don't like travelling heavy on the bus but unfortunately I always do :o/

Ok, that was all. Hope everyone is well,

Love Sara xxx

Dear Family,
Such good news from Meg, re: Tom. Mo & I "shared a couple of moments" over the 'phone. We are still a bit giddy after hearing the news. Thanks Meg, (& everyone else, like Cec & Ray etc.)
Thank you too Sarie, for your great post today. It is always such a pleasure to hear what the new generations are up to. I give you SO much credit for taking the trip to the creek, no easy feat I would think. "Mans' best friend" probably enjoyed the excursion more than you & the children.
I don't know how you manage to do what you DO do. I find my old body rebels if I "ask" it to
do a little extra. I am anxiously waiting for the day when I will be free to REALLY put it to the test. It is SO long since I had a long trek in the bush. With summer somewhere in the future, I am expecting to be free to do just that fairly soon. OH. Normal life, what a giddying thought.
Still no word as to when the Villa will open, but since they are allowing us to move "stuff" in I
can only assume that it REALLY will be soon.
Each day seems to bring more problems re: Peter. Last night he was very aggressive, & would NOT settle. He had leather boots on, & walked (dragged) himself up & down the hall & lounge for several hours. I put all the lights off. Didn't help. I went to bed, thinking that he would too. Didn't happen. Finally I got mad, & really DID go to bed. Presently I heard strange noises coming from his room. (This is MANY hours later. It is now 7.00pm. I started at 2.00pm)I will finish the original story, then tell you why the many hour interlude.) I investigated. BIG gash (28 stitches) on his forehead & scalp. 2'' piece of flesh hanging from his rt. arm, midway. Blood
ALL over the wall, all over the carpet, side & bottom end of bed. I think he fell on the night table. That explains the head, but I can't begin to imagine how he skinned his arm. A trip to the hospital at 3.30 am. Lucky for me, they kept him overnight. I waited till they had sutured the scalp, but just taped the gash on his arm. I picked him up this am at 8.00. All seemed well, but he was very busy again. Walking up & down etc., in NOISY boots. When I couldn't stand the noise any longer, I checked on him. The dressing & pad that WAS on his wound, is now on his wrist, & the flesh is hanging in the breeze. Back to the hospital, now about 4.00pm. I knew the Dr. on duty , so asked her if it was too late to suture the flapping skin. She agreed to do so. Off
we go to emerg. & she put in quite a few stitches. Home again just in time to get tea ready. I had
Peter shower before we went to the hosp., as he was still sporting all the blood from last night.
He has eaten, I have him in his P. Js., & HOPE we are both going to have a nights' sleep. (Hope
springs eternal etc. etc. etc.)
I have moved most of his stuff into his room. It is not large, but it is big enough. I ordered a dresser & night table in oak. It arrived, but it was WHITE. Sent it back, & the oak wont be here till 13th. I was hoping he would be settled in by then, but may have to take something from here till the other stuff arrives. I can't even think that they wont be opened till then. Time will tell. I really do feel sorry for Peter. I have no idea if he thinks, & if he DOES think, what about? He is always in the past. He doesn't recognize any of our children. Just yesterday he asked me "where is Beryl?" I said I'm Beryl. "Yes, but where is MY Beryl??" All the children were to see him in the past couple of weeks or so. It is hard on them.
Charlotte & her crew are all in Cuba for Spring break, Steve & his crew in Palm Springs, Cal., &
DisneyLand. Dan came home to Whitefish, to play hockey with Doug in an Easter tournament.
He has to return tomorrow, for classes on Tues. He loves Arizona, & really enjoys uni. Josh
graduates on June 4th. Next year it will be Alex, then the year after, Michailas' turn. What is happening to my babies? Soon they will all be "growd up".
I am happy to report that THE SNOW IS ALL GONE. OH HAPPY DAY.
Mo is not finding life too easy these days. They are both always busy, but now a bit more has been added to their plates. Very hard on her poor old joints. Some days she can barely move. It does improve sooner or later, but she knows the reprieve will be short. We had such a good visit while I was over there. The time wasn't nearly long enough. The long drive over here will
be too much for Mos' joints in the future, so I fear their visits will be few & far between. And
the extra work load they both have won't help any as far as time goes.
Since I don't have a life, there is no news. Friends have been VERY kind & understanding, for which I am most thankful. It will take me quite a time to play catch-up with them. Jobs that I always did, have had to be done by someone else for the past year or so. I will have to take over again when I am free. Also have to strip the house, room by room, of stuff that I havn't used since I moved here. That will NOT be a quick process.
I really enjoyed the last few posts. Mos' church, Saras' escapade with children & dog. Lins'
Easter eggs. I usually check Blog & e-mails before I leave the bedroom in the am. Most times I
am disappointed. But not today. Please Blog on when you can Family. I think EVERYONE
enjoys it, & what a quick & easy way to keep in touch.
One piece of good news I do have. If there are any Mac uses on the Blog, I ordered myself a MacBook Pro, wireless, plus a new printer. It has all arrived, I have opened it up, but have not set it up yet. I am waiting for THE MOVE, when I will have the time to study & enjoy. I have
always had Desk Tops. Now, with Laptops, the old models seem SO cumbersome.
Anyway, this has been my HAPPY EASTER DAY. Hope all of you have had a more meaningful
day, with perhaps a church service to drive home the significance of the day.
Keep well & happy, & don't mind my complaining. It always feels good to bore others, when ones' own life is so boring. Ha. Ha. Love to all. Kell. (Where is Bernice???)

Easter in St.John's

They were not all supposed to come up, they did, so you get them all! We had a Baptism....Bill's first.....the font in front of the pulpit, Baptism Candle in the little box.
My altar....some of the flowers I put , in Thanksgiving for Tom,More of the flowers....I couldn't get a good shot. I have one more I want to put on....for Meg...of the front taken from the aisle. Next time. We had a beautiful service, only an hour, we are both out of the tight clothes and sitting relaxing.
Sarie, thanks for your letter, and especially for Old Horse Dobbin, out at grass........how I love it! And for the site...I haven't had time to look at it yet, but will. And Scotch Lassie was a doll June had, dressed as a Scotch Lassie...we all loved it as kids. I don't think her girls got to play with it, and I know she still had it at Erina. Anyway, I am not going to go on and on today. Have a friend coming for supper, he is out counting birds down in the valley....Ted would love it, they (friend and others who go there) have counted over 4000 bald eagles, and over 8000 redtail hawks. It is a migratory path for raptors, and are birds are counted for weeks as they migrate after winter, by as many as 100 people. It is quite a site. Best go. Your walk sounded so fun Sarie. Would love to see the little creek. Stay happy, all. Happy Easter. Love to all. Mona.

HAPPY EASTER To all

Hello Family,

Firstly, I just reviewed this post and it's more like a thesis so if you want to read it you'd better grab a cuppa and a packet of bickies ...

GREAT news about my own dear old Mum. You can knock her down but you can't hold her down :o)

Aunt Mo' are these the ones you wanted?

Going To School Did you see them pass to-day, Billy, Kate and Robin,
All astride upon the back of old grey Dobbin?
Jigging, jogging off to school, down the dusty track -
What must Dobbin think of it - three upon his back?
Robin at the bridle-rein, in the middle Kate,
Billy holding on behind, his legs out straight.

Now they're coming back from school, jig, jog, jig.
See them at the corner where the gums grow big;
Dobbin flicking off the flies and blinking at the sun -
Having three upon his back he thinks is splendid fun:
Robin at the bridle-rein, in the middle Kate,
Little Billy up behind, his legs out straight

or was it:-

The old horse Dobbin, out at grass
Turns his tail to the winds that pass
Stares at the white road winding down
Through the dwindling fields to the distant town

From the distance he hears a short sharp trot
Sees his master a small dark dot
Riding away on the smart new mare
That came last month from Pulborough Fair

And Dobbin remembers, as horses may
How often he trotted that ringing way
And his old heart aches with a heavier load
As he stands and wonders and stares at the road.

Don't know if this is even what you're after and there's no doubt much more to it but a page with lots of old poems is:- http://www.scribd.com/doc/206669/Poetry-Ancient-Poems-Ballads-Songs-Of-The-Peasantry-Of-England-Bell-Robert-ed .

Can't find the 'Scotch Lassie' one.

The birds are all fine. They're supposed to be Tony's but I get to do all the 'caring'. I'd happily give them away if I thought they'd go to an aivary and not just into a cage but alas I'm sure they are probably best off here. Oh and if there are any stray keystrokes on this post then I blasme them on the hand rared little flying rat, he keeps running accross the keyboard and chewing at the keys! I'll have to pull the keyboard apart and clean it out, bloody 'gnargens' all between the keys. I'll also have to do as Bernice said and take the nesting box out of the aivary as I saw the couple at it again out there the other day...

Lyn, what a gorgeous bride, it looks like it was a lovely wedding and ALL the dresses were beautiful (and wrapped around those beautiful slim little bodies)!
Were those eggs arranged by yourself? They look 'posed' and I think it's a very nice picture but I do tend to be a bit of a bower bird when it comes to 'shiney' things. I love walking through the stores at christmas and running my fingers through the tinsel and gazing at the pretty baubles.

Fair dinkum Aunt Mo'? 20 years you've been doing it? Why has it taken them so long to ordain you?
Fantastic news for Aunty Kell, you'll be wanting to sleep for a week. It will be good for Uncle Peter too, like you said, other older men for company. I am so happy for you Aunty.

School had their 'Autumn' (used to be 'Easter') Hat Parade on thursday. Angelina joined in and they all had a great time. Giancarlo's teacher had just got the class settled into their seats by the parade ground when I cracked out the eggs for the class and they all jumped out of their seats, climbing over the seats and each other to get some eggs. I called it off and told them 'after they do their part of the parade' and got them all seated again. It was funny, like ants swarming out of the nest when someone kicks it. Naturally I apolagised to the teacher :o/

Most of Hokeys class. Last day of term so a few are away.
They make their own hats in class these days but it makes an even board for all the kids to make them.
We just have to pose ...
Oh she's just Soooo pleased with herself ...

On Friday I was going to take the kids for a walk through Lane Cove National Park but Greg phoned and said he was going to the 'bike' show at Bankstown. Tony had seen the poster advertisements for the show and had said he'd wanted to go so I went and told him. He said he'd take the kids (or maybe I told him he was taking them) so he organised himself and off they went. I decided to sort out my filing while they were gone and was just about finished when Greg arrived at the front door. Bike show wasn't much and he was heading home, just stopped in for a cuppa first. Tony and the kids arrived about 5 minutes after Greg. They'd only been gone about 1.5 to 2 hours but it was a pleasant break for me all the same.

I took the kids to the National Park yesterday (Saturday) and up a track I used to walk every weekend back in the day when I used to live at Beecroft. I threw Bruce and Gizmo in the car as I figured they'd enjoy a day out and we left at 10:15am. As I turned down the street that the park backed onto Bruce started to whine and carry on in the back. He was barking and doing donuts in the back by the time I parked the car as he remembered exactly where we were, even after 9 years!

I remembered there was a little rocky creek right at the start of my walk, before a bit of a walk up a hill. Well, I remembered right and there were was a big rock in the middle of the creek to step on to cross but covered with moss and me with my stick was a bit hairy. Getting Angelina across was easier than I thought, Hokey encouraged her along. Hopping about like a frog himself.

I started up then and begger me if I didn't lose balance and fall over. I started to slide down the edge of this rock which was a direct drop into the creek. Hokey was nearby so I asked him to pull me up if he could. God bless his little soul he did pull me up a bit. I was still balanced precariously on the edge and when I tried to turn to pull myself up I started to slide again. Hokey pulled me some more and I managed to get up, covered in mud and moss but at least not soaked in the creek. I wasn't concerned for myself but was afraid for the kids as that would frighten them more.

It was quite funny really, like you'd see in the movies when someone slides down a steep roof then slips some more to the edge before being rescued.

Anyway, we made it but bloody Gizmo got scared and wouldn't cross. A couple of blokes came along, too late to help me but carried Giz' over. Off they went and we headed up the track too.
Well the people who look after the parks had put railing and steps in since I'd last trekked the track and I'm bloody pleased they did too as it sure as hell was alot steeper and rougher than I ever remembered (amazing how much we take for granted huh?).

We'd pulled up pretty soon after the crossing and had our picnic on top of some rocks aways above the creek. It was lovely and peaceful, no city sounds, just us. After that Hokey was running up and down with ease but I kept a close watch on Angelina, not that I needed as she pretty much stuck by my side anyway. The rocks were slippery with sand but held her hand as I crawled up the tricky ones 'til we got to the top of the steep part and then it was pretty much just bush track from there.

The sign at the start (Cheltenam) indicated it was a 1.2km walk to Pennant Hills, we went as far as Angelina would go which was almost all the way (the 'sports' players at the playing fields at the end of the walk were clearly audible) so we sat for a little while and chatted before making our way back down again.

The walk down was much quicker (as going 'back' always is) but no less hairy as it had started to rain and now the rocks were slippery wet. We had to stop a few times and call up the dogs as they'd gone walk-about, they had a fantastic time too, we all did.

By the time we made it home it was 2:45pm and we were pretty knackered. My legs are surely feeling it today... Kids (naturally) don't feel a thing.

They had their easter egg hunt this morning. Such as it was, the front yard is about the size of a 'stretched' lounge room but the grass is long as the mower is broken and it had been raining so it was all dripping (adds to the 'mystery' I reckon).
I hid the eggs in 3's in the plants and the cubby and the grass. I was video'ing them but the bloody tape ran out. I was ticked off as I thought there was plenty of time left on it.

Anyway, they found and have eaten about a kilo of eggs between them already. Well, I snavelled a few out of both their baskets and put them away so we'll say about 350g each.

Starting out on the hunt, they already have a few in their baskets.
The yard being wet made it much more fun (in my opinion)
Can't see it but her basket is loaded too.

It's been wet and cloudy all day and the wind is picking up now. I'm still in my jammies, saw no need to get dressed as I wasn't going anywhere.

I can hear Hokey going spastic in there because he can't win the playstation/Wii game or whatever it is he's playing. I'd best hurry up and go confiscate it for a while so he can calm down. Angelina giving him attitude certainly doesn't help the situation.

Ok Family, I will sign off and wish you all a lovely easter. Take care,

Sara xxxxx

Happy Easter

Hope everyone has a very happy easter, safe travels to those travelling and hope the eder bunny brings lots of eggs for everyone!
love Belinda

Pilot Mound is Back.

Good morning all. I hope you had a good night's sleep? Good, 'cause this might be long !!
Firstly, Meg, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for the good news of Tom ! Our Lord works in mysterious ways His wonders to perform ! Our prayers were answered, for which we will continue to give thanks! Flowers in my church on Easter Day as a Thank offering ! I'll take a photo to put on here.
Now I went back to my last blog, made notes so I could reply to a lot of comments, etc. Now if I can only work out what I meant with my short hand, we are on the way!-
I do want to comment first on Lyn's photos of the wedding. GREAT SNAPS Kid! Loved them all, but especially your victory dance ! One down, one to go !!! Loved the dresses....your colour suited you (And suits me ! Love it.)Hannah of course looked beautiful, and why not? She is beautiful. I also loved looking at the Per's paper....takes you back, eh? And the photo of me taking a photo of the littlies (where are those 'littlies' now????) But look at that dark, shiny hair!! and the neat waist line !! And the not too shabby rear end !! I enlarged it to look at the kids, and my old Oroton bag showed up so plainly. Truth be known, Kell still has it.......you never know it may 'come back in' !!! (Gottcha Kelly!!)
I loved the outside fire with Boree Log....whoever put it on, likely Wendy? You may not know that Boree Log is a fav. of all the family, and Cook, Kell and I quote it to each other frequently...especially ....time has turned the rusty key....ah well, leave unturned the embers there !!! Kell and I remember all anniversaries, B. days, etc. If not too sad we talk, some we just acknowledge and leave it there.
Sarie, I think you commented, or asked, if now we are ordained can we do services? We have been doing services for 20 years, but Bill can now consecrate the elements, give blessings (Legally now!) I am still the worker ant, do the missionary stuff, look after people, etc. Have been doing it all this time, now have a title!!
Wendy, great sea world pic.s...good photography. Now, what is with the house? Are you selling? And where will you go? Hearty congrats to Lenice and Andrew. I would gate crash the wedding, but my MO says no flying for 12 to 18 months. Getting old is such fun!!
Thank you all for birthday and Ordination good wishes. Lisa it was great to hear from you again. You and Ron live such boring lives, never going anywhere or doing anything!! Go, Kids, GO!! I remember young!! Sarie, how are the birds doing? I couldn't have them myself, too much of my dad in me ! They are fun to watch though. I have a feeder outside my kitchen window, right in front of the sink, and love to sit and watch them. I feed little squirrels out on our deck and we have fun watching them, too.
Meg, how is the lawn coming? It must be getting almost too cool to be working on it now?
Great family photo when Mark was home. Keep your word and don't lose contact with him again. Life is too short. Someone had questions about...I think...mum and dad? Best ask them now while some of us may be able to answer them. And don't forget the photos of Ted's. E mail them to Kell and me. We would both love to see them (And keep, of course !) What fun looking back with Ken. Wish I could have been there.
Does anyone know how Ray is? No mention of him. I will try to get Cec on the phone when I finish this. Did Marcus get rid of the snake? An old friend of ours died, and her grand daughter gave the eulogy. One of the things she said was 'It was gran who told me "snakes are not pets, and therefore can't be kept in the house"....pass it on to Marcus!
Bernice, you said you would be back i n 2010.....it is here ALREADY!!! Where are you???
Lisa, I'm glad for you and Ron that you have his dad close to you. He must be enjoying having you, too, and also the clean air after the city.
Bernice, how is your mum? Is she still able to stay in her home? You were concerned. Did she get her health back?
Wendy, great pic or 'the Oldies' with Tess, Rick and the Littlies......also the 'Surfer' !! We save them all!! Also the bats !! The stench must be terrible. Are they still there? Maybe they will move out with the cold weather???
Peter Tully?????Are you there? Where are the childer? Please have one of them get on the blog and fill us in on your lives. Bill and I toasted you on 2nd.
My last comment I made notes about. Kell was here for our ordination service, spent a week, had a great visit, a glass or two of vino, lots of talking. She enjoyed the service, too. I have been on Prednisone for about 5 months, guess I don't look in the mirror too much, I couldn't believe how puffy my face was till I saw the photos.! So I stopped the pills. Shouldn't have done that!!
Back on them 3 days later, reduced my dose, but fear I am going to have to go back up to the original . I guess it could be worse. (Don't know how, but guess it could!)
Today is still Good Friday for us. I have salmon steaks in cooking.....Bill's family didn't do the fish thing on GF, but the Paytons did, and now the Blackburns do! We had plans to BBQ them, but rain and snow put the kybosh on that. Bill and I did our service last night (Maundy Thursday) and at 11 am today, we are free now till tomorrow when I spend the day at church ironing linens, polishing silver and brass and generally getting my church ready for the Lords return! We do service on Sunday morning, then I think we are taking off for a couple of days. Have a retirement party for the Dean of our Cathedral on Monday eve, and I would like to visit Oak Hammock Marsh (a few miles north of W'peg) The geese are coming back ! By the thousands, and Oak Hammock is a refuge, so the fields and marshes are covered with them. We took Tom up when she was here, but it was off season, so not many birds to see.
Kell is looking forward to some freedom. She has taken most of Peter's stuff to the facility, but no word on his admission yet. It shouldn't be too long now.
I just looked back....this is way too long ! SORRY! I'll go . Much love to all. Keep us posted. Mona
Sorry, one more thing. Wendy, who has June's old poetery book with the blue cloth cover.....it is OLD....but it has Old Horse Dobbin in it, and I would love to have the words of it if possible, please. Kell too I think! Also, who has Scotch Lassie? Just a bit of history I want to remember !
I'm away. Till next time. Love ya !

Anna Bay

Hello all, I will make it quick, probably have to go to work as the hospital has been trying to contact me. Just got in from the Mater Hospital where Mum had to see the Dr for the biopsy results. Ok here we go ALL IS GOOD so far. The tumour is not malignant, BUT- they still dont know what sort of lesion it is. The next step would be to go under the knife and cut the whole thing out. HOWEVER they are not prepared to do this and I dont think Mum would do it anyway. She had to have another chest xray today and there are no changes in the lesion. It has not shrunk or grown an. She is now to have a 4 week course of Prednisone ( a cortisone) have another xray at the end of the course and see how things are progressing. The antibiotics she had initially did nothing to change it so its not a pneumonia patch and does not present like a pneumonia.
So thank you one and all for you prayers and support during this time, Mum said to the Dr she knew that she was cured!!!! My mate cured me_ The Lord. Amen.
She is well and supporting a big smile. What a wonderful Easter gift I must say. So she will be with us for a while yet.
I am staying put over the holidays. I have lots of work at the hospital here which is great and now I can go and chase the work without worrying about Mum
For anyone travelling, take care. Lisa and Ronny have a great time at the festival.
Happy Easter.
Lyn the photos were beautiful. You were all stunning and I am so pleased everything went well.
Aunt Mona and Uncle Bill. Congratulations and thank you thank you for the lovely photos. I do remember the church.
Aunty Kell good news on your front, I am so pleased for you that Uncle Peter has placement now. You might get a good nights sleep at last and get your life back in some sort of order.
Take care everyone
Love Meg
Happy Easter one and all.
