Hello everyone
Just a hello to let you know that I am out there and thinking of you all. I may not mention each and every post that I read but I do read them when they come in.

Nothing much has changed in our neck of the woods. I dont know when we last sighted the sun, we are growing mouldy. I had the boys drill into the brickwork and plaster in the shed and string me up a clothesline in there so that I can at least air the towels and put a few things out to dry instead of flogging the dryer all the time.

Jacob has his own car now which is a great help. I no longer have to go and pick him up from work of an afternoon. Means I might get an extra hour of sleep when I am on nights. He can also pick Marcus up from work for me of a weekend. Not to mention that he is now that one step closer to independence.

Marcus has his licence but no wheels as yet. I will leave that task up to him to save for. He will soon get sick of relying on Jacob and Jacob saying no. It will hopefully give him the drive to save and not eat his money.

We had the pleasure of babysitting a work mates baby budgie when she went to NZ for 10 days. It was a very new addition to their household. As soon as we got "Bok" as in bok choy home I clipped her wing and she soon snuggled into our shoulders and provided endless hours of entertainment. Liz and her family were thrilled when they got her home. Now they have a family member that will fly to them and impart her love at her discretion. Not a bunch of feathers just being fed and looked at.

Marcus's little bearded dragon had her nose out of joint and would not eat the whole time Bok was here. As soon as Bok was gone she had her fill that would put a lion to shame. The yabbies are their usual antisocial beings but we love to watch how they behave and sleep on their sides on perch up on the tips of their claws while they clean their tails.

I am doing the usual run of nights. Had a late shift 2 days ago which was a nice change. But I prefer to do the nights to get away from all of the politics that go on during the day. We have a new staff member doing the rosters and he is 2 weeks behind getting this new one out. No one is happy about it. It means it will come out 3 days before this one ends. Of course everyone likes to know in advance what their shifts are so that they can change them if needed. Politics.

I dislocated the index finger on my right hand a couple of days ago. Just by trying to open the sliding front window. Nothing exciting, but boy did it lift me. I struggled through the late shift with it but am glad I have these two days off to get the swelling down and get a bit of movement back in it. It axed my plans to go right through the unit and give it a good clean, Oh well next time I am lucky enough to get 2 days off in a row I will get stuck into it. The windows are crusted with salt and the sand has built up in the window tracks and door tracks. We have our own little dunes.

Mum is ok. Still plodding along cleaning. Has not gone over the 42kg mark but I dont think that will ever happen. And its not from lack of trying. She has been tormented by a late night door knocker and we have all been called out at all hours to go and stay with her. She has called the police but if there is someone there they have hight tailed it out of there before the police come. Sara and Tony are going to come up and put up sensor lights and leave their dogs with her. I dont think that her birds will like it but too bad. Something has to give.

I had better get a move on and get a few groceries for the endless pits that live here. I have no idea where they sore it all but the fridge and cupboard are never full for very long.
Take care one and all. Keep the winter chills at bay.

Belmore 22/7/10, 1340hrs

Hello Family, how are we all? All is very quiet here, today and in general. Bernice, I was so tired when I read your last post and didn't take in that Kenny and your Mum had been sick, not to mention the dear old dog. How are they all now? I missed Kenny's birthday but was thinking of him. Did you do anything? Go to dinner?

Didn't take long for tiredness to overcome me once again. The kids still insist I stay with them at night and I usually read a story then lay with them until they fall asleep. Since I've been home from Mums though, the nice 7pm bedtime routine I had up there went out the window. So when I finally settle them I simply fall asleep alongside them. I am actually struggling to keep my eyes open here now.

Aunt Mona, I will email you regarding facebook and how it works but in brief summary it's sort of like an 'over the back fence' or 'passing in the street' type of setup where you just see what people, your 'friends' are up to. Anyway, I'll email you. It's not 'personal' like our 'blog' though.

I have a load of washing in the dryer, one in the machine, two waiting to be done and three in the bedroom to be folded. So really I should be in there folding or something to lessen the workload I have but alas when do I ever actually do what I should???

I was over at Koorong, a christian book store the other day and saw on the counter a set of three cd's with the entire bible, NKJV dramatised on mp3 for just $9.95. 58hrs straight of read bible. I'm up to 1 Samual 4 and checked in my NKJV yesterday and it is word for word. It surely sinks in to my head alot better than just reading alone.

I think I heard Tony stoking the fire a short while ago, I might have to go in and lay in front of it. I'm quite cold.

Aunty Kell, thank you for the photo's you posted before of Kates place, Char's place and the young'ns. It's nice to get a feel for the 'everyday' in your lives. Yes, pics of Kates new place where Dan(??) is living whilest attending Uni' will be lovely. Also of your travels along the way, Uni', the park at the back fence and anything you feel inclined to photograph. Maybe Uncle Peters new residence, the building? (if you are comfortable with that).

I think I will get Tony to collect Giancarlo from school today so I might have a 'Nana nap' while they're away.

Well folks, I will sign off now and hope this note finds you all well. Take care,

Love Sara xxxxx

Sara's bit.

Hello Fam', sincerest apologies for being so slack, I do facebook for a moment when I can but as usual at home I'm running around like a headless chook and don't seem to achieve anything.

I'm in bed, too tired to sit up at the pc. Bernice I just LOVE listening to Meg talk about work, by far better than anything you'll see on tv. I think she's incredible, wish I had her brain...

Was great to see Mum again, she said she enjoyed having us there and I would've liked to stay longer but only took enough medication supplies for a few days. I'll put some pics up soon, there isn't much but I have a couple of 'Butch' (butcherbird) on the kitchen bench waiting for his handout. Mum knows them all, Butch, the younger Butch who isn't quite s trusting as Butch. Maggie, who has a stumpy leg/foot. Mum discourages the young'ns from looking for handouts but naturally they still try their luck. She also knows which Kooka's are which and only feeds the mothers.

Greg took us all down the back of his place one day to checkout the whales but they were swimming quite a ways out that day. All the same it was lovely. Then a pod of dolphins put on a show surfing th waves right in front of us. We were up on the hill but Greg took Angelina and Giancarlo down onto the rocks for a closer look and they were really pleased to see all they'd seen.

Thank you Bernice, Tony made a cake tonight after she fell asleep and I have a couple of bits and pieces in the cupboard I'll drag out later and wrap for her. She says she's 6 years old and I'd just about agree with her some days.

Aunt Mona, you are blessed to be able to 'sit' other peoples dogs then hand them back.

I'm trying to type but this silly bloody cursor keeps jumping back through the text I've just typed and I'm falling asleep so I'll sign off and try to logon tomorrow. Love to you all,

Sara xxx

Hi all back on deck or should I say out of bed and not on the ward for a moment or two.
Aunt Mona it sure has been a rough time for Kelly and Rhonda, give them my love and prayers. How fortunate for them that they have you and Uncle Bill there for support.
Nothing new here to report. I have been doing steady Night shifts, 8 straight, one day off then 5 straight. The tax man loves me, a shame it doesnt all go into my bank account. We had a really rough week last week, a crisis every night so it seemed. A 3 year old that went down hill before our eyes and we had to put an IO needle in to get fluids into the poor little bloke. It was so cruel for him. Its a needle into the tibia below the knee for the non nurses. Usually people are unconscious when this takes place. This little bloke was semi and woke up with a scream of a banshee. Anyway he was stabilised and retrieved and sent to Newcastle, had urosepsis. A young bloke that had an old head injury,( Had been hit over the head with a guitar then knee capped with a machette by bikers.) was brought in in status epilepticus. He had to be retrieved. Next night a fellow who had an epistaxis. Fainted then in the faint vomited what looked like a liver river. He was sent out. Chest pains galore, a stabbing that I was called in for. Blood like I have never seen. He had had his throat cut, nearly severed the jugular and 2mm into the carotid artery. He made it!!!!!!! the list goes on. The other morning a 150kg 50year old came in at 06:30 with chest pain. Can you imagine it. After nearly 10 hours on the job I could have bloody choked him. Ambos couldnt get an IV line in because he was so fat. Yes I did manage to get the job done so we were able to give him the morphine. I went home at 07:15 so didnt see the outcome but was told that the chopper wouldnt transport him because he was too big. He had to be retreived by road ambulance. As far as I know he is still alive. Last night was cruisey thank goodness. Just the usual bits and pieces throught the door. I am rather stuffed but am enjoying the job. Havn't lost anyone yet. One of the girls who does 6 shifts a fortnight is leaving and I am going to try to get her permanent .6 position. It will mean I will loose a chunk of pay but at least it will be regular work. I have a dry spell coming up with only 3 and 4 shifts a week anyway. That does not last tho because there is alway someone off sick for what ever reason so their shifts have to be filled and if I take the job they wont let me work over 76 hours otherwise I have to be paid overtime and they would rather employ a casual staff than pay anyone overtime. That is why Shirly is leaving. The work environment is not a pleasant one at present. So much fighting and bitching amongst the staff it is a disgrace. One woman walked off the job the other morning after report because she didnt want to work on the ward, she only wanted to do ED or Triage, it was below her to do the menial nursing tasks. What has nursing become with college trained nurses.

My boys are good, well what I see of them. Marcus goes for his "P's" tomorrow. He has been doing a few shifts at Hogs Breath Cafe but I feel that will come to a halt with the end of the school holidays so he will have to find some other employment to finance his social activities and save for a car. Jacob is enjoying his job still, and has not done anything about chasing an electricians apprenticeship. He will have to join the army I think.

Mum is good, popped in for 1/2 an hour yesterday. Sara and the kids had been there for a week keeping her company and occupied which was great. Her mind is not the greatest but health wise she is doing ok.

We have had lots of rain over the past 2 months, I feel that everything will turn to mould if we dont get a bit of sunshine soon. Its nice to sleep with the rain falling, I just snuggle in but I am a bit over it now.

The photos that you posted Wendy were great, thanks for going to the trouble to share with us all.

Happy birthday to everyone that has seen another year through, there are too many to mention but you were in my thoughts as always.

I have attempted a canneloni dish for the first time ever and it is smelling delicious, hope it tastes as good. Too bad if it doesnt they will have to eat it anyway.

Take care one and all
Meg

Is Mona the only one left alive????

Morning all. I very quick note....Bill is out cutting the grass and then we are running away from home for the day....to talk about Face book. I can't handle it ! I can't get into it, and this morning
I received 12...yes, read TWELVE, E mails from Carol all saying she had posted a photo of me on my page (or something!) Only one from Sara to say the same ! But girls, Frank was over last week to 'sign me on ' and my name, E mail, birthday and PHOTO were all there ! Before any of you knew I was going to be your 'Friend' !! I don't know how they got there. I have seen the photo before...may even have it....but how did they (or it) get all my info? So Carol or Sarie or Lenice , SOMEONE, PLEASE mail me instructions ! Frank may come tonight for supper and set me straight, but he really isn't into facebook so may have a problem. Till I get help, hang in there all my friends, I am coming !! No news to relate. Kell is still at Kates and I haven't talked to her. The rest of the family are OK or I would have heard. We are 'sitting' the Princess Rosie till next Thursday and I am trying to teach her barking is not necessary every time something, someone, moves ! It is an up hill, (very steep hill !!) job. We get a little terrier to sit for a month in Oct. while her mum goes to Australia. (Husband died a couple of months ago)
Meg, Kelly Burns' dad died yesterday. His mum died on 9th June and he just didn't want to live without her. Wanted to go be with 'Mum'. The family spent a week with him, in hospital, while he got ready (and they) to die. Kell came over last night and he is doing OK. He wants to come and help me measure up the grave site for his dad......as he did for his mum. Kelly is married to Rhonda Hainstock, and her mum died on 6th June. What a month for those kids.
Best go. Hope all are well, and I will master this, it just takes longer when your brain is addled !!
Much love to everyone. God bless. Mona

Pilot Mound on deck.

Morning all. Just noon here, Bill will be in for lunch soon...he is over weeding the carrot patch. We have had visitors for the past 4 days, so haven't got much done. We are going to Winkler this afternoon to get my computer out of hospital and to buy me a wireless mouse for the lap top. I just can't get used to this little scratchy thingy !
Kell is down at Kate's. They are driving a car to Arizona to leave with Dan (University down there) then they will fly home. Kell's computer has been acting up but should be OK when she gets home in a week or maybe two and she will get on and bring you up to date. Bill aand I spent 3 days with her a week or so ago. She is doing OK, and Peter is happy in Vista. We visited him each day, took him for a drive one day.....the only time he would come. Bill just home so we will eat. I will add to this later...will post this now or I will lose it.
Hey.....so many of you want to be my Face book friend......I DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET ON !!!
Frank will be here this afternoon, maybe he can help! LOVE the photos ! The first one is of our family, not mum's ......identify them !! Love to all and more later. Mona

memories in black and white

Hi everyone. At the end of this post are links which should let everyone look at some photographs on Wendy's facebook page. The photos have been scanned and played around with a little bit. Here's a little taste:

It's pretty impressive to think that some of the photos are decades and decades and decades old! (rubbing it in, aren't I?)

There are photos of Wyn and June. There are also photos of Nanna Payton and her family (brother, sister...). Imagine how impressed June would be - knowing that her photos were being spread around among her family through the computer.... I think she'd get a kick out of it!

Feel free to save any of the photos (or all of them) onto your own computer. Tell us the stories or memories that come from looking at the pictures.

Enjoy!!
Wendy and Carol

(Click on the blue writing - it takes you to the photos. There are 3 pages you can look at. When you get to the photo page, double click on the first photo and it will be enlarged (easier for old eyes to see - chuckle chuckle). Then click on next and move through all of the photos - or double click only on the ones you are interested in looking at. To save - just click on the photo, then go to FILE then SAVE AS and save them to your computer.)
