Morning all....or anyone...if anyone happens to, by chance, get on this site!!
Here it is 10-45 am on Christmas day. We have little Rosie with us for a week to lighten my day and help with 'stuff to do'. I told Bill I would like to go to sleep and wake up just in time to say Happy Birthday to John!
We had our Christmas service at 4-30 yesterday afternoon, and for us, that was Christmas. The older I get, the more commercialized the season gets.
We are supposed to go to the kids next door for supper, but Bill has a fierce head cold, and there will be small children there, so I told Rhonda we would stay at home and not risk the children getting the cold. I am going to cook a couple of Cornish hens later in the day. Meantime, we are enjoying just sitting with little to do. I made a pie for the kids and Bill has just taken it to the Hall (the kids rent the Church Hall for today and tomorrow, and about 30 gather for food today and games tomorrow.)
We didn't do the 'present' thing this year, opting to go for a long week end sometime in Jan. What do we need or want at our age?
Talked to Cook a couple of days ago, all well there. Haven't heard from Kell, but I think she is down in Whitefish.
Today is the coldest day we have had so far at -28 with wind chill of (so they say!!!) -45. Bill shovelled a spot in the snow for the pretty one to go for pee breaks, but I'm thinking she wont stay out for long. Even the little birds are hiding out of the wind somewhere. I have to get some suet balls up for them, they use so much of their body fat in this cold.
We have had some of the most beautiful hoar frosts this past week or so. I think of Wendy every time, she loved it too!. We only get it when we have a bit of a warm spell then cold.
I don't have any news or anything to say really, so will go. As soon as I get the last few posts on Flash, I will tell Lyn to discontinue the Blog, as I am the only one useing it, and I don't know if anyone reads it anyway! I check every morning, hoping someone else will have written, and get tired of my own ramblings. No use to have it if not used.
Best go make Bill a coffee, he just came in the back door.
Love to anyone who sees this, hope you had a quiet and restful Christmas day.
God Bless. Mona

Mona's back!!!
Morning all. This am, early, I checked the Blog....nothing new. Then I decided I was going to get on if it took me all day. A NEW AND DIFFERENT PAGE CAME UP!!!! So here I am, with nothing to say!! I haven't had a good time since SB left us. Just need to be with family.
Today I have to start into my Christmas Cheer. This is my last year at it, and have a friend who is taking over, she will work with me this year, I will work with her next year if she needs me, then I AM FREE!!! I wont be sorry, it is starting to get to be a lot of work and no time for ourselves.
Bill and I went to Winnipeg on Sat. stayed in a motel and went to our Cathedral for service on Sun. morn. My Cathedral "Fix" before Christmas.
We had an interment of ashes to do before we left on Sat., the ashes of a good friend who died the same day as SB. It was stormy and freezing cold, and the cemetery is on a hill, the better to catch the wind!! The family are good friends and we had a bottle...no, magnum, of good champagne to toast Joan with...it was too cold to enjoy it, we had to just swallow in one gulp, it was turning to slush!!
I got some nice photos by E mail from Wendy yesterday. I mailed them on to Kell, too. Kell is home just now, but heading back to Calgary for kids concerts, then to Whitefish for Christmas. She says she is doing OK.
Oh, Bernice, thanks for the pics you put on the blog. They are nice.
We have lots of snow, and now it is too cold for any to melt, so it is here till March. It is about minus 22 this am. Bill wants to go put up more lights, but I wont let him. He spent a week in hospital with a bleeding ulcer a couple of weeks ago. His Hb went down to below 60 and is taking its time coming back up in spite of iron pills etc. He gets tired easily and has to sleep. I say the lights can wait till next year!
Best go. Our 94 year old cousin fell and tore the skin off her hand on Sat. and I have to take her to the hospital to have it dressed again. She will be waiting in the hall for me.
IF I can get back on, will drop a note before Christmas. Love to all and God Bless. Mona

Sara - Tuesday 20/11/12
Hello all and thank you Bernice for posting those photos, they really are lovely and Uncle Steve aged so well didn't he? It certainly is a sad day and I'm also thinking of you Aunt Mona and Aunty Kell, I know you'd like to be at home at this time.
I have been thinking a lot lately about Mums youth and how things were for her and the Brothers and sisters growing up. Mums memory is not so great anymore and she used to ask Aunty June about things anyway.Aunty Junes memory was clear as day. Some things I wanted to get straight I thought I'd ask Uncle Steve in January, perhaps he'd remember. Stewert said he'd been in a lot of pain with the break from his fall, poor old Dear. I'm glad his suffering has ended at least.
Think I said it in my last post but I'll say it again anyway; I'll be glad when school hol's are here. I'm so fed up with the morning run. Feeling very tired.
The builder is putting the ceiling up in the hall (from where we had to pull the cupboards out to extend the bathroom) and into the bathroom.

Much work to be done.
Still have to knock out the two bathroom windows and wall between them to put in a large window. Also the toilet one to put in a matching window to the bathroom.
I was rummaging through one of the gravel filled drawers
when 'Buddy' here strolled out.
I showed the kids then pushed the drawer gently back into place, intending to catch and relocate him after I took the kids to school but Hokey kicked the drawer and I dare say that was why Buddy wasn't there when I got home. That was yesterday, I haven't looked for him yet today but will do so later. Mind you, if he/she is there then no doubt all the 'lations will be about also :o/
Best be going, too freaking cold to be sitting here. Feels like winter still. No, I was WARMER in winter!
Love to all xxxxx

Help.
Morning all. Yep, another hour wasted trying to get into this thing. It makes me so mad. Last time I went to write, it just came up, same as it used always to do. Today, all the e mail and passwords and new blogs and verifications.....I was about to say to hell with it, and finally got on. All of this, and all I want is for someone to E Mail me John's Wentworth address. I know I have it somewhere, Cec gave it to me. But I can't find it. So if anyone reads this, will you send it to me please?
No news. We have mega snow...about 18 inches. I had to go up to the cemetery and measure out for a full burial on Saturday. My young helper looks after me and had the man come and blow the road clean and clear off where the grave is to be. All I had to do was measure out the space and mark it off. Thank God for young people!!
Loved the photos, Sarie. The kids have sure grown.
Best sign of. Nothing to say! Love to all. Mona

Giancarlo going to the school Halloween Disco
Angelina as a 'good' witch to same disco
Hello everyone, no news to speak of I guess. Same old same old. As you can see from the above pics, the kids have been dressing up.I probably should've let Hokey wear my bigger shirt but I was afraid it'd end up covered in sauce from the hotdog, I needn't have been concerned.
No sooner had I dropped him off and arrived back home then I get a phone call to say he's crying and wants to come home. None of his friends were there and he 'missed' us. I told the teacher to tell him to go back inside and watch. They said they did and he did but he came back out and wouldn't stop crying. I hadn't even finished the phone call when Tony had left the house to go and get him.
Hokey gets home and declares he doesn't want to go to Camp next year (two nights). Twelve months between now and camp might make the difference. I shouldn't be so hard on him, I was just as sooky. No, I was worse I think :o/
Aunt Mona, I just called Mum, Aunty Cec and Uncle Ray had been visiting and just went home yesterday. I'd say that's why Aunty Cec was calling. Mum so very much enjoys their visits.
Mum said that Kenny and Bernice popped in this morning for a visit on their way home from up the coast. Was lovely to see them too.
Shoot. The day's gone already. Another half hour then I'll have to ready to get the kids. Might go have my cuppa then do that.
Love ya's

Mona is back on deck!
Morning all. Who was it who prayed for a blizzard for me and forgot which week end I needed it????? It came this week end and I wanted it next week end!! However, I think the Lord knows there was a mistake, and He has given me another out!!
Lovely lot of snow we have. I didn't go to the Armistice dinner last night, but we had our service this am. Not many out for it, but with about 18 inches of snow, most couldn't get out their driveways! I always feel glad when it is over, not only because of the part I play, but it seems to be an end that we look forward to. Too much snow for us to do the cemetery thing today, but we will when it clears a bit. For those who don't know, Bill and I go around all 3 cemeteries and put poppies on family graves after the service on the 11th. I put one for dad on Bill's dad's grave. (One of my precious Australian ones. I wear it for service, then give it to dad. Lyn gets them for me.) No news here. I haven't heard from Kell for a week or two. She has been down at Kathy's and Kate and Char were taking her to Phoenix for her birthday to soak up some heat!! I hope she isn't back yet, Alberta had the storm before us, MEGA snow and cold. Kell hates both!!
We changed time last week and it is already dark at 5-30pm. I hate it. Dark mornings are OK...sleep in !! but dark evenings are a pain.
Sarie, you get different pages to the blog to Kell and me. I haven't seen any as you describe them! But today, there was my little "New Post" sign, at the top when I opened it ! That is how it USED to be all the time. No need to sign in or pass word, just start on the note!!
And yes, our bathroom is finished. Looks good, too. I want Bill to do a bit more grouting on the small tiles and fill in a couple of little openings, but they can wait for a bit. He has had a few jobs to do for others that he needed to get done before freeze up. I hope you are happy with your bath when it is finished. We still have to go to the States to get my towels. Better quality there, and a good choice of colours.
Best go find food for supper. I tried to phone Cec but no answer. She may be at Tom's of in Bourke. Will try again later.
Love to all and God Bless. Mona

Passing time in Belmore
Trying to change phone carriers. Pain in the bum BIG time. I've been on the phone for over an hour and it's driving me NUTS. So much CRAP you have to go through and every bastard locks you in to a 24 month contract. To opt OUT of contracts costs even MORE. I'm trying to cut costs, not add to them :/
No news, I'm just passing time while sorting out the above bullshit.
Aunt Mona, is your bathroom finished yet? We are having ours done now. Knocking the wall between the bathroom and toilet and extending the wall out to be flush with kitchen and lounge doors. Tony is doing the demolition and we have a builder to come in and do the rest. Will be nice to have some room there at last.
The dog is in the bedroom with me. He doesn't like the noise :/
The weather is still all over the place, coolish nights but the days are finally warming up. I don't like the heat but a break from the cold is always welcome. Might even get to fill the pool this weekend.
The kids have swimming lessons this afternoon, Angelina's enjoying it now, getting brave and catching on. Giancarlo loves the water, he scares me :/
Well phones are sorted out now so I will go and catch up with the rest of the housework etc before I get the kids for swimming.
Hope everyone is well. take care,

Pilot Mound signing in
Morning all. I have spent over an hour trying to log on to the blog. Is anyone else having the same trouble? They tell me its a new look, easier to manage! ROT!! I want the old one back! I don't know how to tell them, and when I yell at them they don't respond!
No news. A bit of snow last night but it has melted now, and we are glad. I am praying, for strictly selfish reasons, for a blizzard on 15,16,17th. So if any of you are praying people, just mention my name and blizzard, the Lord will know what you mean!!
Kell phoned yesterday, just back in Pincher for an appointment then on her way back to White Fish. Kate was with her, doing the driving. Kell sounded OK. I think needing some time at home, but the kids want her with them now.
She says she can't remember what happened yesterday, writes everything down and forgets where the note is!!
.Bill and I may go over for a few days in March......depending on the weather, just to Pincher, stay with her for a week or so, so she can be at home. The kids get a break that way, they won't leave her alone, her health being what it is .
It has been cold all day, but no wind, so I have steaks out, seasoned and ready to BBQ. If it doesn't get too cold we will have wine on the deck while the meat cooks. I feel the cold more since I had the old myalgia rheumatica, and when I get cold, can't get warm! So if we are out, I will be rugged up in coats and rugs, etc!!
Wednesday is Halloween.......Happy birthday, Bernice, and Happy Halloween, too!! I know you love it. Bill and I give the kids next door our treats to hand out, put a note on the door for the littlies to see, telling them "Go next door"
then we have fried chicken and wine for supper, in the dark. It is not my favourite time of the year!!
Put some peanuts out this afternoon for my squirrels. One was on the deck looking for water, but we had put all the water containers away before freeze up, so I hope the peanuts were Ok in place of H2O.
Just had to go and get my chickens. I get 12 from a farmer each year. Still have 3 from last year, but took 12 anyway. Bill loves it.
Best go. Time to start on supper. So till next time, IF I can ever get on!!
Much love to all and God bless. Mona

I'm still here 12/10
Hello family. I'm still about. I check the Blog from my phone but am still unable to successfully get a Post off on it.
All is well here. Bloody freezing today though with the unseasonal arctic blast blowing up from the south. I'm rugged up in a quilted jacket, as is the rest of Sydney I think. Frank has been laying in front of the heater. I'm tempted to join him but not before I vacuum the floors.
Aunty I don't know how you stay so busy all the time. I just want to slack off and sleep for a week :o/
Lisa, I loved your post and all the beautiful pictures. I'd so love to go camping but doubt we'll ever get out West to do it. Too far for Tony to travel, he's such a woos!
Bernice, Carol saw that you'd mentioned Dexter on here. She doesn't know login details which I will forward to her but she sent me details. I will paste them as follows:-

Hi Sara. I noticed someone mentioned Dexter on the Payton blog. I don't know the password etc for that blog. Dexter has his own webpage, which includes a blog. We try to update the bog with a picture almost every day. He also has a facebook page. People could follow his progress through these or you could post some of his blog stuff on to the payton blog, if you thought people might be interested. He is doing pretty well. He has had four rounds of chemo. The last two have knocked him around a bit and he has needed more time to get back to being his cheeky self. We are really hopeful he will have the tumour cut out later this month. He will most likely need another couple of rounds of chemo after that. Lenice and Andrew are doing fairly well - tired, but ok. Lenice is now 24 weeks pregnant. Here are the links: blog - http://lovedexter.weebly.com/blog.html webpage - http://lovedexter.weebly.com/index.html and facebook - https://www.facebook.com/love.dexter.31
Cheers. Carol
lovedexter.weebly.comI may be grossly developmentally delayed (because of my cerebral palsy and prematurity).... But I'm learning how to bite! So far - mum's nose and cheek and dads pecks! And always their fingers! I...Haven't heard from Mum for a couple of days so I will try calling her later. She seems to be doing ok up there. Aunty Cec and Uncle Ray came down to stay with her for a few days, they are so kind to do this for her and she thoroughly enjoys their visits.Marcus has started a Boiler Maker apprenticeship out home which should be very good for him. Jacob is still working on the farm out there too.Greg has been off work with a crook elbow, Tennis Elbow? I've had it myself and know how debilitating it can be. He started back this week though I think. Our school holidays were good. We went up to visit with Mum. Took the kids fishing while we were there. Didn't catch a thing but the deed was done. Aunty Meg took the for a climb up her mountain, which they loved. Took them to the movies and the beach before coming home.I took them bush walking for 4 hours last week. It was a lovely afternoon although climbing up and down the hills just about did my hip in.The next day I took them to the aquarium down at Darling Harbour in the city. That was another 4 hours of walking around. Hip is really aching now. Then the day after I took them to an aquatic centre up at Hurstville. They were in the water for 4 hours there too.I got in for a while to try to loosen my hip but eventually got out and did my crosswords while they played. The last day of the hol's I took them to th movies again. Yes, a pretty full holiday they did have. It's bucketing down outside at the moment. October and we're looking at starting the fire :/ Mind you we've been blessed as we've had free wood delivered to us all winter. The little Oriental blokes who do tree lopping etc trying to save money as it costs them a fortune to take the logs to the dump. They are charged by the tonne. We have used heaps but still have about 3 or 4 tonne in the front yard. The kids cubby house, which the little toads never used, has been converted to a wood shed. It is finally being used...The solar Inverter has carked itself and we're waiting on the service technician to come out and fix it. Placed the call over a week ago and still no word. I will have to call them again because when the sun does come out I want it to clock up those solar points. We had to pay $500 last bill and that was ON TOP of the $500 that we were already in credit for.Well that's about it for me. I will try to put a couple of pictures up. Hope everyone else is well.XXXXXAt the top of the mountain with Aunty Meg. Angelina could see Tasmania :o)

Lisa and Ronny's Outback Adventures
Hi All,
Just putting up a few photos for Aunty Mona. They are all back the front, but I guess it does not matter. I have deliberately chosen a lot of the wild life photos.
Firstly out trip. We had to go to Sydney for Ronny's nephew's 21st, and then from there we went west and went for a loop around NSW. Stopped when we felt like it, stayed in the Riverena a few days, then found ourselves in Wentworth at Johnno's. He and Vicky are very happy, Johnno goes fishing with Vicky's brother, and the creek is behind their place, and the Darling River is there too. Then we went North from there, staying at Menindee Lakes, the went on to White Cliffs, Tilpa, Louth then Bourke. Had an overnight stay in Bourke, caught up with Melissa Tully who was there for the weekend (she is looking stunning!). Went to Nana's grave and checked out the old house etc. Next morning, we headed out to Lowe's 'River Block' and camped there for 4 days. It was magic! Simply awesome! We camped right next to the Darling river and Zappa had a ball too! It was very hard to leave! From there we met some friends in Lightening Ridge for a night, then we headed to Lismore. Stayed with Ronny's brother, then spent the next day with Mum and Dad before heading home. It really was a brilliant trip! Photos will tell a lot.
Dad has been unwell with the flu, and it really knocked him. He is still recovering, but he is very weak and gets tired easily. Mum is as awesome as ever.
Back to work tomorrow, but to keep spirits up, we are planning our next camp trip in 2 weekends! I have my big Drama night in 6 weeks, so my focus will be on that when at work.
If you have not received the invite to Mum's 80th, please let me know - that goes to everyone.
Otherwise, all well here.
love Lisa, Ronny and Zap.
Photos - above was a favourite position of Zappa's, just looking up and down the Darling River, where we camped on the 'River Block'. The wild goats would tease him from across the river! Did not capture all wildlife we saw, but we saw lots- roo's, emus, wild pigs, piglets, echidnas, snakes, foxes, rabbits, goannas, goats, and birds, birds and beautiful birds!
Zappa frightened the roos away - we would not let him chase them!
Snake sunning itself
Our camp.
Pretty obvious - echidna!
Not sure if this has been on the blog yet? Aunty Wyn's plaque is
there with grandfathers plaque.
Wedgetail Eagle
Obvious!
Heading from White Cliffs to Tilpa
We were out there!!

Second try. Last try.
Is anybody reading this? If not, it isn't worth my time trying to make a post.
This is my last try....the last one disappeared when I tried to spell check. Any spelling errors in this, tough!
I just came in from the deck. Reluctantly! Summer is about over but Bill and I don't give in easily, we hang on outside for as long as we can. Bill is over working at the smorg. My job was to phone all the women for desserts, salads and to cook turnips. I made two lemon merangue (is that how it is spelt? Egg whites whipped up with sugar?) pies this morning and Bill took them over to the hall.
Tomorrow we take his 93 yr. old to Winnipeg for a Dr.'s app. Tuesday is cook all day day. Wednesday is harvest the carrots for Winnipeg Harvest. Thats why the cook all day, I feed my harvesters when they finish bagging carrots!
Thursday we have a concert in the hall....The Air Force Band.....along with pipes! Have to make a dessert for that, then Friday I am getting out of town, away from phones and door bells! We might drive up to the park and go bear hunting. It is so beautiful outside with our trees getting dressed in autumn colours ready to drop thier leaves for winter. We cleaned up some of our pot plants yesterday and did the ones from the church. I wish Cook was here, I have taken mega cuttings in the hope of wintering them over to save a few $ in spring. She would know if they will survive!
Best go find some food. Bill isn't home yet, 7pm, so I suspect there isn't food left for the workers to eat, so I'll be ready with some for him. He went to work at 3 pm and they will have been running for the 4 or so hours!
Love to anyone who takes the time to read. God bless. Mona

A saddened Mona on deck here.
Good morning all! How excited I was this am when I went to the blog to see "Ken here"!!! I quickly looked at the photos and scrolled on down to see what he had to say. NOTHING!! I thought I was going to get all the news and gossip, and nothing. Come on, Bro., write a wee note! But thanks for the great photos. That one of mum's must be old! Look at the size of the trees at the front......they grew so big they blocked the house from view!
We are just getting ready to go out to supper....Pizza and wine....so while Bill is cleaning up I thought I'd say a very unimportant words!
My bath room is ALMOST finished. Have to put the light fixture up, and the toilet roll holder to the wall and I think that is all. I am enjoying having my toilet at bedroom level again! Next is the laundry, the a new floor in this room and THEN I can go on with cleaning windows and important stuff like that! My computer guru had surgery to his shoulder last week and his arm is in a sling for 3 weeks. We had supper with him a few nights ago and got stuff from his garden. SOOOOOO many beautiful tomatoes that were going to go to waste, so I said "pick them and I will can them for you". Today I canned 16 beautiful pints of Romas. What lovely tomatoes to work with. So easy to peel and cut and jar. If ever I can for ourselves again it will be Romas. It has turned cool here these last few days and frost expected in a few nights. Summer went by so fast. Bill and I sit out on the deck long after frost though. Me rugged up in coats and gloves and blankets with a glass of cold wine! I hate it, I used not to feel the cold, but since the old rheumatica it really bothers me.
Best go, Bill is almost ready and I have to get Princess Rosie's frankfurt cut up and get her water bottle and blanket ready to go! More when there is news!
Love to all and God Bless. Mona

Pilot Mound checking in.
Good morning all. What a time I am having with this blog!! I try and try and it just won't work. Then after an hour and much swearing, up it comes "New Post" Click on and here I am! It really is hardly worth the time, I might just as well phone Sara and Bernice and be done with it. It is just about coffee break for Bill, so I will have to go soon anyway!
Bill is renovating our bathroom, doing tiles today. We have had a few funerals to conduct...each one takes about 3 days of preparation, so that has set us back with home stuff. I hope the plumber will be in tomorrow...no toilet upstairs for 3 days, then back to normal I hope. Will only be a few days of normal, because I want new hardwood flooring in the room where my sewing machines and computer are. Next year our deck has to be replaced, it really should be this year, but summer is almost over and we don't use it in winter....except for the odd evening and a glass of wine while wrapped in every coat and blanket we can find!!
We spent a few days with Kell a couple of weeks ago. Had a really good visit.
I think she is down with Kate just now, and Kate and Char are going to come and stay and help her "sort out" in a week or so.
I canned tomatoes this past week. Did 60 lbs, got 28 quarts. I told Bill this is the last year I am doing them. Still have about 20 jars from last year and it is hard work.....not manual work, just on the feet and MESSY!
Tomorrow I have to start on Christmas puddings. Make 28 qts. and about 25 pints, all for sale for our church. I am going to try to get some help with those, have to grate apples, carrotts and potatoes and once again, on the feet and MESSY! The old pressure canner gets heavier every year, too! And by the end of the day...and often before the end of the day, my back says "NO MORE"!! Best go and get the coffee on. May phone Cook when we have coffee...have to catch her at 6-30 am her time, or they are gone for the day!
I forgot to read the last couple of posts before I started this, so will catch up next time. Love to ant and all who read this. God Bless. Mona

Belmore 12/8/12
Well Hello again Family,
I don't logon because I have no news to speak of, just rambling but if you're ok to listen to that Aunty then, brace yourself ;o)
It feels SO Frick'n cold here in Sydney. Coldest it's been all winter. Tony has just been to the servo to fill the gas tank for the heater.
On Friday one of our firewood men (Blokes who do tree lopping for work and just need to get 'rid of' their load bc the fee's at the waste disposal place are too high) came by with another good load of wood, some cut at a decent size too so could be thrown straight on the fire.
If it hadn't been for those little Asians working seven days and all hours it would have been an even colder winter for us :o/
I had planned to get on here and have a real yarn but I'm not feeling so good so might have to sign off and go back to bed for a while. My arm has been giving me curry this week and was particularly bad on Friday. I relented and took a pretty strong painkiller. A couple of hours later I'd forgotten that I'd taken the painkiller (hadn't had any relief) so took another. Bad move, VERY bad move. I started vomiting around 11 on Friday night and didn't stop until last night (Saturday). In-frick'n-sane! So tired and drained.
Aunty Kell I do hope someone is able to find your rings somewhere. Losing valuables is hard enough but sentimental ones is a real kick in the guts. It must be lovely where you live though, to have the dear come down so close to your home and so green.
I long to get back to a country way of life but I don't see it happening anytime soon. This place is so frig'n depressing but if we sell it we have to split the value with Tony's brother then we'd barely have enough to buy, let alone relocate to a decent place anywhere else. Such is life...
I saw on facebook that little Dexter had had his second lot of chemo, the first had left him very ill. So hard to see innocent little ones suffer so much.
Mark phoned the other night and we had a chat before handing over to Mum. He seems to be poking along ok over there and had attended a couple of Olympic events. I haven't watched much of it but I don't think they're having much of a summer over there either. One day t-shirts, the next heavy woolen coats.
Megs boys seem to be doing well out home in Bourke. They have plenty of friends and social life to boot.
Well, I have to sign off because I'm too bloody cold to sit and type anymore. Will post a photo from Angelina's birthday with their gifts.
Take care everyone. Lin, when you do get back on here, please post lots of your Canada pics, I do enjoy seeing them.
Ciao all,
Love me xxxxx
All Angry Birds. They're the only toys that they seem to keep playing with. I have another eight to get so that'll be Christmas taken care of, phew!

G'day all,
I don't think it is very long since I last "posted". However, I'm at the computer now, so thought I'd drop a quick note. I say "quick note", as there is absolutely NO NEWS!!!
It is a long week-end here, so nothing in town is open.
Lin is with Kate & Fam. in Whitefish. I havn't seen her, & probably wont, as family doesn't like me driving!!! I'm quite sure that they will not come here.
Steve was here for a few hours yesterday. They are all camping at Bouvis Lake, about 12 miles from here. (??? spelling. It is pronounced "Bovie".) It is a fabulous day, so everyone should be having a
really "fun" time. Steve has the camper, so they are "living in luxury!!! Hardly "camping", but that makes ALL campers feel better!! It is the way I would want to camp, if I absolutely HAD to camp!!!
Charlotte & Family are all home from their trip to Europe. Apparently, everyone had a fabulous time. Mike had been before, as it was his family they were visiting. It was a "first" for Charlotte
& the children. They had been to Mexico, but never Europe.
Town is VERY quiet. I forgot about the "holiday", so went to get the mail. Nothing there, then I
realized HOLIDAY time!!
I was just looking out my bedroom window, ( it is 6.35pm here, on Tuesday,) & saw 7 deer on the hill
side, about 75 yards from here!! They are regular visitors, as there is lots of grass, & no preditors. The
hill is a beautiful green at the moment. It is supposed to be summer, but so far, no REALLY hot days.
My body yearns for REALLY HOT!! However, it is daydreaming!!!
I was out at an Aussies' home a couple of days ago, & had a wonderful lamb dinner, complete with all
the trimmings. There were about 25 - 30 people there, only 6 Kiwis & Aussies. I took Aussie wine, which is the only "brand" of wine I buy!! It was a great evening.
I think I mentioned once before, that I lost my diamond rings at Kates' place. We never did find them & I feel sure a magpie got them, as there are SOOOOOOOO many magpies there. I did order replacements, but it wont be the same. Peter choose them himself, so that made them more special to me. I am so mad at myself for leaving them outside!! (On a fence post! ) And then I forgot they were there, so didn't check till the next day.
I wonder how everyone is doing?? It seems there is never any postings on the family blog, & it only takes a QUICK minute to post a small note. Please people, there isn't much use us having a Blog, if no one uses it!!
Mo & Bill very busy, as usual. It is gardeniong time here now too, so that adds a "little extra" to the days activities. I think Mo plants the Churches' garden too. As far as I know, the produce from the garden goes into the food baskets for the needy. ( And sometimes, the NOT so needy!!!)
I'm just prattling here, so will call it quits, & hope someone posts soon. So mamny family members, all with stories to tell, & they all go "untold"!!
We think of you all SO often. Someone, ANYONE, please post. Tale care. Love to all, Kelly

the trimmings.

I'm baaa'aaack 20/7/12
Yes Aunty, it's just you and I :o/
Well, as usual I have no news.I did want to load some photo's but the kids have been using my camera to make videos and so these must also download when I plug in the SD card. This being an old computer it is very slow to load, may take up to or even over an hour but I'll just leave it running anyway, will eventually get there.
STILL haven't sorted the kids room as Tony hasn't been too good of late. So Mum is STILL crowded with her boxes. I think she's settled well enough though, not cold anymore as we usually have the fire going and when that is not on we have the heater going. She potters about doing her own thing so I think she is content enough Aunty.
Wish our bathroom was being renovated, it's decrepit and falling to pieces. Cupboard is full of mould and vanity doors swell shut. Just another thing on a loooong list of 'things' needing to be done.
Don't know anything of Pops plaque as I think there are only the young'ns out there and they don't frequent the cemetery. Well, I'm sure they go out to see their Mum but may not even know where Nans grave is. I don't know.
Kids have had their birthdays, 9 & 6 yrs old now. Years 4 and 1 at school. Hokey gets in trouble while Madam is a model student. They are both healthy and happy kids so that's all that matters to me.
Lovely day out there today so I hope Tony is able to get up later and chop some wood because it is bloody cold out there and will be inside if we don't get those flames stoked tonight :o/
My hand is very slowly getting into a better position although I have to wear a particular brace to try to get it into a position where the hand is face toward my chest. As it is, it's palm side up and flops back onto my chest when I lay dow. Prompts a fair yell from me. I do need to try to straighten my arm out more though as the surgery has tightened that part of my shoulder/elbow. That also hurts like crazy. All in all though, the surgery was worth it .
I'm going to pop out to Jesse Tully's tomorrow to drop a bag of clothes off for Marcus. Jess is going home to Bourke on Monday and the boys are still out there working. Sending the clothes as work gear for Marcus.
Meg is still traveling about with her coarse for the job she is doing. Seems to be pretty in depth but he also seems pretty happy with it so that is what's important.
Greg still goes to and fro' with the mines. It's good work and pays the mortgage, always a plus..
Well that's my wonderful life people. I do hope everyone else is well and happy?

Pilot Mound checking in.
Hi Sarie. Seems like you and I are the only ones looking at/ using the blog, so lets chat! First, how has Tom settled in? Is she happy there? Details please.
Has anyone said anything about Dad's plaque on mum's grave? I didn't ask permission from anyone, John & Vicki, Cec and Kell and I discussed it, Cec did all the running around for it, Kell, Cook and I paid for it, and Bob, bless him, did the instillation work...saved me about $500. I like it and hope everyone else does but no one has mentioned it. I wanted it done just to acknowledge dad's life.
No news here. I talk to Kell fairly often and her fam. are all well. She is at home just now but likely back to Montana this week.
The plasterer just arrived to do the joints in our bathroom...a couple of days for plaster then sanding then painting then cupboard top, sink in and I hope I can start to use it again. We will use the one down stairs till then.
Just did a spell check on this.....don't like the spelling for instillation, but quess they know what they are doing!
Anyway Kid, no news here so I will go. Hope all is going well at your house.
I have a meeting tonight at 5 till 6-30...9-30 am your time, so I might try to give Tom a call then. Take care and love to all. God Bless. Mona

My turn...
No news at Belmore, same old same old. Mum has settled well but we still haven't moved Ange's gear into Hokey's room so she's got piles of gear about her room. Have to empty Our gear from Hokey's cupboards so we can fit his and Ange's gear in. Bloody itty bitty house, no room to swing the cat, although the dog gives it a fair try :o/
Yes, thank you to Carol (I thought) for the update on Lenices beautiful little boy. Prayers and Gods gifts to the medical practitioners for their expertise.
Have been crook for a week and am getting real pissed off with it. Doc says it's viral, have blood tests on Monday to check it out.
My battery is going flat so have to logoff. Hope all are well,
Sara

Guess who???
Good morning all. Oh, I have been at this thing ALL afternoon, finally saved some pages and sent them to Lyn to see if she can help, then in desperation went back to this and it asked me "New post"????
So here I am, with not much time left before I have to go out!
First, I want to say 'Thanks' to, probably Lenice, for putting Dexter's history on the Blog for us. Carol had E Mailed me to tell me, so it wasn't too much of a shock, but the history is so well written and so full of info. Thank you.
You know without me telling you that we pray for you and for Dexter and the entire family. What a heartbreaker especially when Dexter was doing so well. And isn't he beautiful!!
Bill and I are living our early years again, with no walls in the bathroom and towels hanging on nails!! He told me, if I wanted more hangers he has a pocket full of them!! We will likely be living like this for a few weeks, waiting now for plasterer, then plumber, then painter. I don't care, it will be nice when it is done.
We had an inch and a half of rain this am, and very welcome it was. Some hail out of town, one of our friends had hail but he said not too much damage.
I talked to Kate this afternoon. Kell is down there but can't stay too long, her medical insurance runs out. Kate said she is doing OK. Char, Mike and family have gone to Europe for a 3 week break. Kell was with them for 2 weeks before they left, then I think Stephen took her to Kates.
Have to go, I have a meeting I need to be at. Am doing Palliative Care with a 93 year old at the Lodge and have to keep up to date with what is happening.
Love to all. Blessings. Mona

Len and Wendy's grandson, Lenice and Andrews son.
A lot has happened in 13 months!

Here's most of it:

The year that was...
That was the day that Dexter was born.
Let me tell you Dexter's story.
Dexter gave us concerns from way back when he was the size of a pea and we discovered that he had a single umbilical artery.
When mum had her Glucose Tolerance Test at 28 weeks gestation, it came back one point too high. She was referred to an endocrinologist with suspected gestational diabetes. She never did make that appointment.
At 31 weeks, Dexter's amniotic fluid began to leak and the very next day he was born by emergency caesarean. The doctors think there may have been an infection but they can't be sure because they gave his mum some antibiotics.
His mum was only able to have half a dose of glucocorticosteroids
injected, to help with his lung development, because he became too stressed and they had to deliver him. But he came out OK. And then he crashed.
So we almost lost him that first night.
But Dexter is a fighter and he went on to survive pneumonia and anaemia and jaundice.
He had ultrasounds, echo-cardiograms, x-rays, barium swallows, enemas, electroencephalograms,
milk scans, swabs, blood work and loads of tests.
When Dexter was 4 weeks old his routine head ultrasound showed that he had PVL,
periventricular leukomalacia. Brain Damage.
His mum and dad were told to prepare themselves for severe muscular impairment.
So we knew he had cerebral palsy but an official diagnosis couldn't be given.
We just had to wait and see what he would and wouldn't be able to do.
The days and weeks passed by slowly and it seemed that with every step forward Dexter took,
he would take two back. His mum was told that he would most likely go home with a gastrointestinal feeding tube and an oxygen mask. But she had been there, by his side, everyday and she was starting to
question the decisions being made about his care. She knew that he would react badly to added calories in his milk, but his carers kept wanting to try so he would put on more weight.
So they would try and he would react and have to go back to hourly tube feeds.
They found spots on his gastrointestinal tract so they sent him to another hospital
for further checks in case he had to have part of his bowel surgically removed.
Then when he was 2 months old and starting to make good progress he had his first immunisation injections and 12 hours later stopped breathing. So he went back to hourly feeds. As he improved again,
his mum believed that he was developing his sucking reflex and she desperately wanted to try to breast feed him. But he had reflux so his carers wanted to keep him on frequent tube feeds.
Bit by bit his mum started to crack with frustration. One of the nurses could see this so he helped her try to
breast feed him for the very first time. And it worked. He was able to do it. But still they persisted with the tube feeds. Still, going home seemed like such a long way away. So finally his mum broke and it was decided that Dexter needed to be sent to his local hospital so his mum could feel better.
And at his local hospital Dexter thrived. His carers pushed him into growing up. They allowed his mum to breastfeed him on demand during the day. She was put in charge of his care while she was there. And bit by bit, day by day Dexter finally got bigger and better. Then when Dexter was 4 months old he had his
second lot of immunisation injections. Again he stopped breathing after 12 hours. But this time he wasn't set right back with his feeds. Finally, not long after, he got to go home. He was 122 days old. He was breast feeding on demand day and night. He was breathing on his own.
The next week Dexter was back in hospital. A new one. He had an inguinal hernia
that required surgical repair. While in recovery he stressed out the nurses and had to be transferred to the ICU. But he recovered quickly and went back home the next day.
We were all a bit scared when Dexter first came home. He wore a breathing monitor that ticked with every breath. Even though he was over 4 months old he was still very little and we were all afraid he would stop
breathing and we wouldn't know how to react. But he didn't. And he got bigger and better with each passing day. Dexter was a very serious baby. We would play games with him and sing to him and blow raspberries, but never get a response. At the best he would roll his eyes and give us a look that clearly said "Really?
Are we doing that again?". But we kept playing games, even though we felt like fools.
Because of his PVL, Dexter attended physiotherapy and occupational therapy. We would do leg and arm exercises with him and he was very good at following our commands. When we said "Up", he would grasp our hands tight and pull his little body from lying to sitting. When we said "Go", he would push his little feet against us and shoot across the floor. He was so determined he would keep on going even when he was so tired he could barely move. He was a fighter from the very beginning.
We never doubted how much Dexter loved us. Even if he didn't play our games, he held on tight to our
fingers. He snuggled in deep to our hugs. And then one day, he smiled. And a couple of weeks later, he smiled again. And then he started to play. He'd even initiate the games. Usually when we were distracted and we'd almost miss his cues. Things were looking up. We were all hopeful for better times to come.
Then Dexter got his eyes tested. Cortical visual impairment.
His eyes worked fine, but the pathways connecting them to the brain did not. So we had no idea what he could or could not see from one day to the next. From one hour to the next. Some moments he might see perfectly. Some moments he might not see at all. So we used more verbal cues. We gave him more tactile toys. His mum and dad started to wear lots of black and white and lots of big, bold stripes.
Then one day Dexter laughed. And a couple of weeks later he laughed again. And then, sometimes, we
could even make him laugh. And he was starting to hold his head high. And he was learning how to sit up. And he caught up to the charts for his size and weight and head circumference... for his actual age.
And he started to make more sounds. And he started to roll over.
And he turned 1.
And we hoped that we could put the year that was, behind us.
And then Dexter got Cancer.
Hepatoblastoma.
Cancer of the liver.
We are still waiting for further tests.
Treatment should begin next week.
Chemotherapy.
Surgery.
And so begins the year that will be.
That was the day that Dexter was born.

Pilot Mound giving it another try!
Morning all. So you are all asleep, doesn't matter, I'll just chat away! First, thanks Sara for the info on getting on! It only took me about 15 min.s this time. I hate changes!
Good to hear from you again, Bernice. It is always good to catch up on your news. And Wendy, thanks for the photos. I look at the second one and can actually HEAR the surf. OK, so I have a good imagination, but it helps me get by!
I wonder how Tom is managing with the smaller home, but having company will be so good for her. We are out for supper this eve, but if home early enough may give her a call. Greg will be missing her being there when he comes home from work.
Bill is stripping the walls off our bath room and the noise of formica being pulled off wood and gyproc isn't nice. But I don't complain, I want the room re done. Have been shopping for new stuff for it for weeks. It is going to take about 2 weeks, waiting for plummer, then painter, then Bill making time to do his bit.
We were away at retreat all last week, so stuff got behind. But we came home refreshed and ready to work. Wish I had known about retreats when I was at work!! GREAT stuff!
Talked to Kell yesterday...all OK. I will call again tonight, but she may be in Montana by now, Kate and co. were due back from Germany on Wed. and I think were taking her home with them.
We have had rain every day for nearly two weeks, and the garden is too wet to be out and the weeds are getting aheaad of me. I have plants...flowers...to put in, but can't get to them! Our 1/4 acre carrot garden at the church is over grown with weeds, big ones, you can't see the carrots. That will be the next job. We harvest the crop in about Sept. and ship them in to Winnipeg Harvest for the needy families. W. Harvest is a Food Bank, and feeds thousands weekly.
Best go. I am on the Nominating Committee for our Synod, and have mega phone calls to make. Best get at it. But now I can get on I will be back soon.
Love to all. God Bless. Mona

Noooo Aunty
Noooo Aunty, that's the people who run/manage 'Blogger' trying to make it more 'attractive' (functional or whatever). They have to keep their product up to scratch to compete with other Blog applications to keep it's users with them (blah blah blah ;o) ) . You worked it out though, just click the orange envelope next to our blog and away you go, piece of piss ;o)
Well Mum's here now and mostly settled in. We have to build some drawers in Hokeys room to put Angelina's clothes etc in so Mum will be able to start packing her gear in. She is in Ange's room which is between Hokey's and ours. Both the kids are in Hokeys room and are pretty happy with the arrangement as they have never slept apart as yet.
I've had Mum over to meet my doctor on Monday so he could have a read of what records she brought with her and his secretary will contact the doctor up at Anna Bay to get the rest of her records sent down.
I have managed to keep her from cleaning but have had to give her some leeway with the dishes. Needless to say my dishwasher has been out of work (not order, just work) since she's been here.
Tony's just come inside from cutting some wood for the fire. I have a young Chinese fellow who brings wood for me. He's a gardener/contractor and cuts trees privately and for council. He brings the bulk of it to us so that way when he dumps the leaves and smaller branches it doesn't cost him as much. Good for him and good for us because we get the wood free, cut and all.
Well it's nigh on time to collect the young'ns so I'll leave you all here and hope all are well. Don't give up Aunt Mo', hang in there ;o)
Love always,
Sara

Love always,
Sara

Belmore, late May :o/
Well how do y'all?
I rarely come on because I really have bugger all to say although like Aunt Mona, I do swing by to check although not ev-er-y day :o/ I've said it before, I do post on facebook but it's just silly one-liners which is all facebook is anyway.
Oooohhhh so Miss Hannah had a wee boy then? That's lovely, pics please? Yes, Mim is a Nana now too, funny isn't it? They all seem too young. Bless them :o)
Uncle Steve and Aunty Marj are both looking really well. Nice all the kids are able to come together for Mothers Day. Mine (mothers day) was a nice one. Tony had taken the kids out on Saturday and did some shopping which I was none the wiser for until Angelina piped up and told the Minister from my church (he and his wife had come to visit that day) that "We got Mummy a present too but she's not allowed to have it until tomorrow".
Sunday morning comes and I'm rousing to the usual household noises when the kids come in and plonk a couple of pot plants onto the bed next to me, followed by a couple of boxes of chocolates and Tony brings in a cup of tea. The kids had bought me gifts from the school stall, a couple of pens and a bath bomb (salts). I think Hokey took the money to the canteen and shopped up there first then went to the stall with the change. Hmmmm sounds like my boy...
Bernice your new Baby looks like a cheeky boy. I do love cattle dogs. Very smart breed.
I do have a couple of bits of news today. Firstly, Mum asked last night if she could come and live with us. No news there because we've been here before but Greg phoned me this afternoon to let me know Mum had organised a removalist for about ten days time.
Oh, thanks brother, Mum was supposed to call me and let me know if she could find a removalist and I thought Greg was already aware of her wanting to come down but he heard of it through the removalist. He got a bit of a shock, poor bugger.
I was completely taken aback myself as it's been 'happening' for so long then BANG! it's already organised. Well it's great news anyway, so so sooooo happy :oD
Bernice, Marks mate told him on facebook that his haircut made him look like a priest, hahaha haaaa. Seriously though, it did look nice. Lovely pictures too, thank you.
Tony is in the lounge stoking the fire, I adore that fire but we're thinking of putting a gas heater back in there as our fire 'wood' is only what we manage to scavenge off the streets when ppl throw out rubbish or trees that have been cut down and up.
Also there is a tile warehouse next to the pub which is next door and the fellow there has old Tony we can have all the old pallets that are too broken or old for re-use. That's great but we'd easily burn a couple of pallets a night and it's a bit difficult loading them up onto the trolly and pull them around here then break up and get the nails out etc etc etc and it's getting to be real hard work every second day.
Oh, I've been seeing my rehab doctor and bugging him for ages to chop my arm off. It drives me nuts the way it's always bent up tight like a chicken wing in the frozen meat section at the supermarket. My hand is a balled fist all the time and it's harder and harder to put my glove on each night, which I wear for comfort as the pressure (of the tight ones) brings relief to the stiffness and the glove in general helps the hypersensitivity in my hand. It always feels frozen and any hand hurts if it's knocked or even touched by anything.
Anyway, he chased down and sent a referral to a Hand Surgeon at Royal North Shore Hospital. I went to see her 2nd May. My appointment was at 9am, I think I got in at 1:30pm and by that time the thirty or so ppl who were there when I arrived had whittled down to about five. I saw the sidekick first for while then the Doc' and three more sidekicks came by and she tried to pull my arm out as the first bloke had tried but neither could do it. They all had a go at it but couldn't pull my arm out straight, much less my hand without pulling me off the chair with it. I showed them how I manage it then they all had a go at trying to bend it back. Wasn't happening. I showed them and the Doc explained what she could do and asked if I was up for it. "Bring it on" I said so they booked me in for the 22nd, last Tuesday.
By the time I walked out of my appointment with her the waiting room was chok-a-blok full of people again And they were lined up out the door and down the hall. STREWTH I was lucky to get in 'early'!
So I went over there last Tuesday morn' and checked in, I tried to send Tony home because the dog was in the car (it was a cold rainy day) but he stayed with me until it was my turn to get changed and hop on a bed. I sent him home then and told him not to come visit because it was too late to bring the kids across the city after school and frankly, I didn't want visitors because, well, what do you do? Just sit there and once all the days events etc have been sorted I don't feel comfortable sitting there, feeling like I have to entertain..
I hated it when Tony was in RPA as, like I said, it's uncomfortable. It was ok when he was in ICU and too crook to talk, I just put my head on his bed and went to sleep.Anyway, they said it was a two night stay so I looked at it is a brief break of parental duties ;o)
So I get wheeled down to the surgery and they start prepping me, takes a while and we go in to theatre and slide me across onto the table. Was right about then that I dropped off and seemingly woke right up again, as you do after coming out of surgery. The doc' came out and told me it took longer than she'd thought it would, four instead of 2 to 3 hours.
Basically she's taken the tendon from under me wrist and pulled it around to the top and attached it there so as to pull my wrist out straight again. She also cut or blocked (or something) to stop my fingers curling under and my hand in to a fist. She did not however, reverse the tendons in the elbow and shoulder for concern of my arm going to the opposite extreme and ending up dead straight, not being able to bend at all. Although, these joints may even loosen themselves with the main offending joint being mended.
So they wheel me back to my ward and I'm feeling pretty good because they've put a nerve block in my arm which is supposed to stop all feeling and did, for a while but wore off before the twenty four hours it was supposed to last. Then the pain kicked in, good and proper. My arm is in a cast from below my fingertips to up under my armpit. It's plastered at a slight angle but I can feel at times when my elbow tries to bend and also when my arm tries to press up against my body but the cast is so fricken heavy that my arm can't go anywhere. I swear I'll be looking like an Orangutan when it comes off, red hair and all...
I came home last Thursday, against their concerns and as it turned out I should have gone along with their concerns because the pain-killers they were giving me weren't doing much good. I went to my doc on Friday and got a script for a different pain-killer but these ones don't do much good and the ones that do ease the pain make me sick. I spent Friday throwing up into a bin by the bed, Saturday I got up and dressed but was back in bed by lunchtime with the bin wrapped in my good arm. Sunday was much the same as was today.
I go back to the hospital on Wednesday for a follow-up when I assume they will take the cast off to check the wound and the result of the op' then bind me up again. I'm hoping they might be able to script me some different drugs. I'm not one for taking pills at the best of times but hell, if it's not the pain then it's the vomiting and whilst experiencing one the other doesn't seem so bad, until I'm experiencing the other...
Anyway, here I am, this post doesn't seem so long as I see it here on the page but when it loads it seems to be too big. So this is why I try to break it in to extra paragraphs for easier reading. So I'm going to break it up into a few more before I post it...
... There, that's better. I'd better post this now. Will try to upload a couple of pics first.
This is Frank just now. Mad Mutt.
Nope, all the others are on my phone and it's already 1:15 in the morning. You'll have to wait another three months for me to try again ;o)
