Australia Day??????

Hello Family,

Aunty Kell and Family, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. I hope Uncle Peter is comfortable and this time passes peacefully for him. The photograph with the horse is a lovely one, when was that taken?

Mark it sounds like France was a lovely trip for you. It must be lovely living on the door-step of so many other countries.

Well it's 26th January here today. It's supposed to be Australia Day but our Indigenous brothers are calling it "Invasion" Day. It completely pisses me off. No thought is given to what their situation would have been had the Dutch returned to 'conquer' the new land. Or, for that matter, what would have happened to them if the Japanese had successfully invaded back in WW11. I dare say their 'race' would have been well and truely run and they would be 'no more'. Why is it a'white' man can no longer have a say without being branded a racist? Every other friggin' race in this country has a 'right' to protest and slander and all manner of things against 'white' Australians. They even burn our flag but heaven help the white bloke who should speak out against anyone else. I'm not having a 'Happy' Australia day!

Well Mum has agreed to come and live with us here in Sydney but it will probably take her 12 or more months to do it. She procrastinates and doesn't like anyone else 'organising' her.

We have not been an-y-where these holidays. We were supposed to go up to see Mum for a few days last Friday then be back Tuesday so I coiuld meet Jett at the airport and transfer him to the domestic terminals.
Well by the time I finished at my doctors apoinment on Friday the traffic was too thick to even bother leaving then, so we decided to leave on Saturday. Saturday we're packing bags while the kids are out the front playing when I heard a scream. It sounded like Angelina but she was on the patio when I looked out the window so I went back to organising clothes.
A few minutes later I looked out but still no Giancarlo, I go outside and Asked B (one of many altered nic-names) "Where is Hokey"? "He's up the street. He fell off his scooter".
I walked out and looked up the street and sure enough, he's splayed flat out on his belly a few doors up, sobbing. I called out to him "Come on, get up. You're alright". His head moves side to side so I walk up there.
He whimpers "I was going too fast and fell off and broke my arm". I looked down at his arm and said "Yeah, you did mate". His little arm was all bent just above his wrist. I helped him up (no bastard in all the town-houses where he fell in front of came down. Nor any arsehole who were parked alongside him while they waited for the traffic lights).
I wheeled his scooter home and came inside, by now Tony was looking at Hokeys arm. I told him it was broken and asked him to help Hokey into the car so I could take him to hospital. That was 6:30pm. He was taken in straight away but didn't go to theater until 0130hrs. Hokeys was the last procedure for the night and his Doc' said he'd check him in the morning, then he would be right to go home. That was 0230hrs . Thankfully the poor doctor was up bright and early and we checked out at 0830hrs. After all that, we didn't get to Mums.

I told the kids "We'll leave on Wednesday after I take Jett to the other airport". Jetts plain arrives at 0720hrs and he manages to get out of customs at about 8'ish I think it was. His Alice Springs flight leaves at 0955hrs.
We get over to the Domestic and have to do three laps of the car park (all those levels) before I get a parking space where we can get to the terminal without going lame. I'm hopping and Jetts struggling to carry his heavy bags.
We get there and by the time we make it to check-in it's 0930hrs and they weren't going to let him through but with much pleading they agreed to let him take his bags as 'carry on' luggage (plane was already loaded) but he'd have to run to the gate. BUT, yes there's always a 'but', the girl at the counter did not see that he had two bags as well as the plastic one and small back-pack. So it was "No, I'm sorry. I'll book you on tomorrows flight" (there's only one flight to Alice Springs each day).
Jett is feeling very sunken as he was tired and anxious to get home. He his Mum, Di's disappointed, not happy Jan. I text to notify Mark, very not happy Jan. I tell Jett not to worry, we'll be out early in the morning and he'd be home tomorrow.
By the time we get home Jett has made a half dozen phone calls and ended up arranging to stay with his brother Alex for a day then fly home on Friday. A few hours later Alex arrives and all is well again.

After all that, we didn't get to go to Mums again. Now it's right at the end of school holidays and too late to travel because all the other holiday'ers would be traveling back to wherever they live and I refuse to drive then.
Kids were very disappointed, as were we because we were all looking forward to getting away for a few days. Now we are hoping on Easter :o/

So that's what we've been up to. Nothing else so I'll sign off for now. Love to everyone,

Sara xxx

Sorry for any mis-spelling. I don't seem to be able to fix whatever it is that causes my cursor to skip letters and add others. I couldn't be bothered going back to correct it now as I'm struggling to keep my eyes open and it's only 8:15pm!

London calling

Hi family,

The last 8 weeks has been pretty hectic for me. Firstly leading up to my trip back home & trying to get all my outstanding business done beforehand, then storming around the country for 21 days after landing on the 5th, before coming back to London & trying to keep a teenager busy for another 4 weeks. Unfortunately for me I've not been able to take much time off work since being back as the 3 week Australian trip was pushing the envelope of my manager's patience quite a bit. Thankfully it was relatively slow over December so they allowed me the time off but as a contractor, it certainly hits you in the wallet. That said, I did manage to wrangle 3 days last week & booked a last minute ski trip to Val d'Isere & Tignes in France. As usual, Jett put up a struggle whenever an activity involved him waking up & getting out of bed. So the 3:30am start last Wednesday didn't go down so well, yet he made up for it by sleeping all the way to Gatwick airport in the car, including the 15 mins transport from the carpark to the terminal.

Where the flight took all of about 90 mins Jett slept for most of it, along with the 3 hour transfer from Grenoble to Tignes & Val d'Isere. Then it was a battle to get him up in the mornings in time for breakfast in the Chalet, then hound him to dress & get ready for the 2 min walk to the chair lift. Once he actually had snow under his skis he seemed to liven up, all the way to lunch when the fatigue would set in & he'd want to sleep again. My problem is that as all his UK friends are at school, he stays up till 3 or 4 in the morning chatting to his Aussie ones on Xbox live or on Facebook. Still, it was an enjoyable 5 days in the French Alps. I'll be definitely going back there as soon as I can manage it.

Hope this finds everyone safe & well.

Don't be deceived, Jett's happy because he is at his favourite restaurant but it was well after lunch so it didn't involve an early morning rise.

Asleep on the bus between the carpark & the airport terminal.

Still not happy. Breakfast at 5:30am is just too much effort. Obligatory mobile in hand, logged onto Facebook.

View from our Chalet window with the chair lift a stones throw away.

Up the top of Anemone looking back to Tignes Le-Lac & Val d'Isere. Finally Jett is enjoying himself.

Belmore checking in 10/1/2012

Still no news but I swung by to see if anyone had logged on; Lovely pics Wendy, Dexter certainly is a handsome little baby.

We lost two of our cats last week, the little girl died after receiving the wrong flea treatment and $1100 in vet bills! Poor little possum, the fleas were jumping off her and Tony grabbed the first tube of flea treatment that was on the kitchen shelf, only it was for dogs. Three hours later she started having seizures. It was a public holiday so our l9cal vet was closed and we had to take her to the Vet Hospital at Homebush, their bill was $900+. I had to set up a payment plan for this as I didn't have $900 big ones :( The next day I picked her up, still comatose, and took her to our local vet. They kept an eye on her overnight and said they'd like to keep her the extra night (but no extra charge) to see if she improved. She died that night, Tony was devastated.

Mother cat, Suki went missing that same day and hasn't shown up sp we're concerned nshe's been stolen or worse still, baited. Snagglepuss is still with usb and very lonely at that :(

I'm making up a batch of pumpkin soup at the moment, made one last week, about 9ltrs but I've eaten it all so need to make another. Also finished the 10ltr pot of vege soup that I made so made up another pot the other day :)

Tony is up and about today so he's taken the kids up to the car yard to get out of the house for a couple of hours.

Hopefully we will be going up to see Mum tomorrow, I'm fed up with being at home all day every dy. Can only imagine how Mum feels and it is quite a hike for her to walk to the shops or post-office. She does do it but I don't like it as I think it's too far with her dicky heart, especially in the heat :(

Better go and try to vacuum while the family is out of the house. Love to all,

Sara xxxxx

60 year old tradition continues!

The Christening gown was once again taken out of the cupboard for Dexter’s baptism.

We weren’t too sure if he would fit it, but he did us proud!

Belmore 04012012

Hello Family,

No news but thought I would log on just to say that anyway :o/

Oh, of course, Mark was over here for three weeks up to Christmas. It was lovely to see him again and I think he enjoyed his time at home. We also got to see Jett a few times also, he has grown into a fine young lad and it was lovely to have him visit a couple of times, my children love him.

It hasn't been much of a start to the new year for this household. Tony put some 'dog' flea treatment on two of our cats. Then one of them, along with Mumma Puss took off over the fence for their usual morning rounds. They both return with cooked (very rare) chops in their mouths. Soon after the young one started seizing but Mumma Puss went over the fence.

We took the little one to the Emergency Animal Hospital, this was on Monday, a public holiday!
They rush her inside and put up an IV to keep her fluids up. They called us yesterday to let us know that we could collect her and take her to our local vet (who was closed on the public holiday).

I knew the hospital bill would probably be pretty steep but I wasn't expecting the $930- that it ended up being, and that being after the vet told me that if she doesn't improve over the next few days then I probably should consider her 'quality of life'. I had to set up a payment plan which of course carries an interest rate but better the few extra dollars than being slugged with the bill up front!

I went over to Homebush and picked the poor little kitty up then took her to our vet. I explained to our vet the financial situation and that I have no intention of letting the little cat live if she will continue to have seizures for the rest of her life, much less be incontinent. They understood and said they'd monitor her for 24 hours.

I phoned today and she hadn't improved but they said they'd like to keep her another 24 hours, just in case. They were happy to not charge us for the second nights treatment so the 24 hours she has spent there is $800- less than the other mob.

Anyway, three days later Mumma Puss still hasn't shown up and we're thinking that perhaps it wasn't the toxic dog flea treatment, which Tony said only got on her hair, not her skin but rather someone had left poisoned meat out for them and mother cat didn't make it home but has died alone somewhere. So now we are down to one cat and he is wondering around crying for his mother and sister.

Tony has had a couple of 'up' days over the last two weeks and it's been great to have him awake and up and about. He is very crook again today though, throwing up uncontrollably, nothing in his stomach to throw up but the motion's still there :o(

We were all supposed to be going up to Mums tomorrow but that won't be happening now. I might have to just take the kids myself for a few days, they are itching to get up there.

I have pumpkin soup on the cooker at the moment, the family won't eat it which suits me perfectly because I love it. I have been living on vegetable soup and tinned fruit for the past few days and my stomach is tight and sore, it needs solids. Pumpkin soup should fill the gap... :o)

That's all folks, Oh Lin, that chutney looks delicious and I agree with you, more chilli :o)

Ciao lovelies XXXXX
